Other than the video and regular photo modes, the M21 camera comes with Live Focus, Panorama, Night, Super-Mo, Pro and a few more modes. A scene optimiser mode is good at adjusting certain aspects like contrast and colour depending on the particular image.

With an easy-to-use UI, the camera performs perfectly in capturing details in daylight. It is also good at locking focus and meter light. However, as a photo fanatic user, I expect a bit more clarity in the output.

In photo mode, the M21 clicks standard shorts of 12-megapixels by default. Alternatively, you can also shoot the images in the full 48-megapixels. To save some space, you can save the shots in HEIF, but it can cause compatibility issues with the other devices compared to the Samsung Galaxy M21 competitor phones.

In video mode, Galaxy M21 gives you two options to shoot either in full 4k or 1080p. However, it is wise to shoot in 1080p as 4k videos lack image stabilisation if you hand-hold the device. There is also a Super Steady mode to shoot steadier videos. To save some space, you can save the videos in the HEVC codec.

The design of the Samsung M21 is quite similar to the Galaxy M30s. Just like the other models in the M series, the M21 also features a plastic design. But it is something that helps the company keep the Samsung Galaxy M21 price moderate in India. It also makes the smartphone a little more durable and break-resistant than the glass models. With a few minor drops or falls, the device can survive without any noticeable damage, cracks, or scratches.The glossy plastic design makes the phone extremely susceptible to fingerprints. So, if you prefer to use the device without a cover, be ready to wipe the phone constantly to make it look seamless and shiny.

Coming to the front design, the Samsung Galaxy M21 screen is good; it comes with a 6.4-inch AMOLED display, which also has an Infinity-U (waterdrop notch) and features full-HD+ resolution. The colour, contrast, brightness levels and viewing angles are on par with any premium phone. The phone's bottom has the speaker grille, primary microphone, USB Type-C port, and a headphone jack.

To protect your M21 from significant falls, you will need to buy a cover separately as the company does not provide the one in the box. All you get in the box is your smartphone, USB Type-C cable, 15W charger, SIM ejector and some documentation.What's great about this smartphone is that it is pretty lightweight. Its thickness is just 8.9 mm and weighs 188 grams.

The Galaxy M21 is powered by the same processor that powers the M30, the M31 and the A51. It is Exynos 9611, which is an octa-core processor. Thus, this new model does not offer anything new but provides a decent balance between efficiency and performance.However, a smartphone's performance does not merely depend on its processor; it is also about its RAM and storage. From this point of view, Galaxy M21 comes in two variants: 4GB RAM + 64GB Storage and 6GB RAM + 128GB Storage. Both these variants are good at handling day-to-day tasks.

You can easily surf social media, send messages, click photos, shoot videos and do a lot more with the device without noticing any sign of slowing down, hanging, or lagging. All the basic apps such as Whatsapp, YouTube, Gmail, Facebook, etc., can load easily and run fast. However, some heavy apps such as Photoshop can take a little longer to load, but it will run smoothly once it is loaded.

When we talk about gaming performance, the Samsung Galaxy M21 battery life is excellent; it can run almost every game without breaking a sweat. Be it about casual games or triple-A titles such as PUBG, Asphalt 9, Call of Duty, you can play any game on this smartphone. Besides the huge storage and Exynos 9611 processor, M21 comes with One UI 2.0, which is the most refined custom Android skin.

It will not be wrong to state that Samsung Galaxy M21 offers the best battery life that is hard to find in any other smartphone in this price range. With the massive 6,000mAh, you may almost forget about charging your phone because it will take around three days to drain the battery from 100% to 0% from light use. With mild to moderate use, you can manage to use the device for two days before the battery drains up, and you have to rush for the charger.

For example, with 1 hour of constant PUBG play, the phone drains just 12% of the battery, which is just phenomenal. For a standard battery test, I ran a video on loop with half volume and brightness, and the phone worked for nearly 30 hours before the battery gave up. The gigantic 6000mAh battery doesn't weigh down the device and lasts longer than the expectation.

The only downside is its 15W charger that takes around 2 hours to charge the phone from 0% to 100%. However, this long charging time can be compensated because the device will last for days on a single charge.
