Given the smartphone's price point, the Tecno Spark 8 appears to be a well-made device all around. The smartphone features the standard plastic frame and waterdrop notch, both of which are reminiscent of the 2018 smartphone trend but are now common in low-cost smartphones. The phone's backside features a dual-camera setup, a quad flashlight, and a fingerprint sensor. In terms of trends, the Spark 8 follows the large camera module trend; however, the camera takes up only a minor portion of the smartphone.

Furthermore, the Tecno Spark 8's fingerprint sensor is oddly placed on the overly large camera module, which matches the color of the rest of the rear panel. The fingerprint scanner works well and is fairly quick; however, if you have large fingers, you may have some difficulty unlocking the smartphone. Aside from that, the fingerprint scanner works fine. The back has a glossy finish, and the new "Stop at nothing" slogan, as well as the Techno Spark branding, are printed somewhat clearly on the side, which we find unnecessary.

The volume rocker and power button are located on the device's right side. On the left side, there is a SIM tray that accepts two Nano-SIM cards and a dedicated micro SD slot. A 3.5 mm audio jack and a micro USB charging port with a microphone are positioned on the phone's bottom. The top of the smartphone is empty, lending it an elegant appearance.

In the Tecno Spark 8, the MediaTek Helio P22 chipset is paired with a PowerVR GE 8320 GPU. The smartphone is powered by an Octa-core processor that runs at a maximum speed of 1.8GHz. In comparison to the Spark 7, the Helio P22 processor is more powerful. However, unlike its predecessor, which had a 3GB RAM model with 64GB of storage capacity, the Tecno Spark 8 now only has a 2GB RAM model with 64GB of storage capacity. This handles all of the basic day-to-day tasks admirably. There will be no problems in your daily activities, such as watching YouTube videos or scrolling through your social media platform.

This is not the smartphone for you if you want to play high-graphics games like PUBG on COD mobile. To be honest, it can only handle light games like Candy Crush or Subway Surfers, as well as other games in the same genre. The performance will definitely suffer if too many background apps are running, and some will close automatically due to the limited amount of RAM, but it is responsive for web browsing and other basic tasks most of the time.

The Tecno Spark 8 has a dual camera with a 16MP main sensor and a QVGA AI housed in the back camera system, as opposed to the Spark 7's triple cameras. The secondary camera is primarily used to detect low-light conditions. The Tecno Spark 8 takes decent photos, but they aren't mind-blowing and won't appeal to the majority of people. However, the images are very good for the price. It is sharp with good details, and in some cases, the high dynamic range is good, as is the color reproduction. Edge detection in portrait mode is also good, but it should not be relied on.

A front-facing 8-megapixel sensor is available for selfies and video calls. The front-facing camera is adequate. It also has a dual flashlight for taking selfies at night. Selfies turn out pretty well, with good details and colors. Both the front and rear cameras can record 1080p videos at 30 frames per second. The Tecno Spark 8 includes a camera app with 1080p time-lapse photography, smile capture, panorama, portrait mode, 120fps slow motion, and other features.

Because the camera app is identical to that of the Spark 7, many of the same features and functionalities can be expected here. According to this, the smartphone takes good photos in good lighting but not so well in low light. This is one of the best camera setups you can get on a smartphone in the budget category at this price point.

To summarise, the Tecno Spark 8 is an entry-level device aimed at first-time smartphone buyers or people who want to use their phone as a backup device, which is what the Spark series has always been about. It is capable of performing basic tasks efficiently, which should be sufficient for the majority of users.
