Vivo Y20 features a 6.51-inch Halo iView display with an elongated aspect ratio of 20:9, and HD+ IPS LCD screen with a gorgeous 1600 x 720 pixel resolution. Here, 720-pixels resolution can save you processing power, battery, and data without substantially lowering user experience. Y20 also has a water-drop notch cutout for the selfie camera up front.

With the latest in-cell technology, colours are more vibrant compared to its competitors, and the view is bigger and more immersive.

The graphics are clear and detailed; ideal for games and videos, and the overall viewing experience is enjoyable. However, Y20 comes with single speakers that produce decent sound, but the user may consider investing in wireless earphones, or use the ones included in the box.

The Eye Protection Mode also filters out harmful blue light to protect your eyesight throughout the day. Vivo Y20 is good enough to use under direct sunlight with maximum brightness.

The phone comes with a triple camera setup on the back, consisting of a primary 13MP camera with an f/2.2 aperture, a 2MP macro camera, and a 2MP depth sensor.

The camera is placed in a rectangular panel, which gives the phone a premium look. On the front, there is an 8MP camera housed within the notch cutout, with features like Face Detection, Digital Zoom, ISO Control, Continuous Shooting, Touch to focus, Exposure compensation, and HDR mode.

Under daylight conditions, camera quality is good, but there is no night mode; and even one cannot expect quality images in low light. With less detailing and dull colours, the images are below satisfactory level.

The phone is a big downgrade in the camera department from its predecessor—Vivo Y19, which has a 48MP rear camera.

If a great camera is a priority for you, you should reconsider your choice for this phone.

Vivo Y20 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon octa-core 460 chipset. It runs on the Android v10 (Q) Operating system. It also features 4GB RAM with 64 GB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 256GB.

On Geekbench, the Vivo Y20 scored a single-core score of 252 and a multi-core score of 1,239. The processor is responsive and worked smoothly for me. Gaming resolution was okay, and at medium settings, one can play games like PUBG and Call of Duty without any lags. However, after continuous playing, the phone did get slightly warm to touch; but it did not degrade user experience, and gameplay was enjoyable.

There is also an interesting feature while gaming, where you can slide three fingers up to access text messages during gameplay if you don’t want to quit the game immediately, or slide three fingers down to take a screenshot.

The other connectivity options offered by the device are 4GVoLTE support, micro USB 2.0, Bluetooth v5.o, A-GPS, and Mobile Hotspot and USB OTG.

Sensors on the phone include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, compass/magnetometer, gyroscope, proximity sensor, and fingerprint sensor.

The model’s battery is its USP, as it is fueled by a massive 5,000 mAh battery that comes with an 18 W FlashCharge technology. Although a USB Type C charger was desirable, even the 18W charger can charge 70% in around 60 mins.

With moderate usage, the battery can last a day with some power still left. The standby performance of Y20 is also quite impressive. And the model also comes with an innovative reverse charging feature, where you can basically charge another phone with Y20’s battery with the help of a cable.

The Vivo Y20 has a very attractive body that measures 164.41 x 76.00 x 8.41mm (height x width x thickness) and weighs 192.30 grams, and hence is a bit bulky.

The back has the rectangular camera array section that houses three cameras with “Designed for Y series” inscribed. It is made up of polycarbonate, but is so glossy that one may misunderstand it to be made of glass.

Also, the matte finish makes the phone less slippery to hold. However, the back and display are fingerprint magnets, so the user may have to be watchful of that.

The product is available in three captivating colours—Purist Blue, Obsidian Black, and Dawn White. It has the sunrise design on the back, with the rays originating from the rectangular camera bump.

A physical fingerprint reader on the back is absent, as the Y20 utilises an in-display fingerprint sensor. Along the right side is the mounted fingerprint sensor, which is also the power and screen on-off button, above which are the volume buttons.

On the left side, we have the SIM tray that supports Dual SIM and an SD card. Underneath are the headphone jack, a micro USB port, and speaker grill.
