Latest update on Tata Harrier EV
Last Update on 31st Oct'23: The highly anticipated Harrier facelift is scheduled to make its debut later this month, and for the first time, the electric version of the Harrier has been spotted. A recent online photo unveiled this electric two-row SUV, featuring the same front design as the prototype showcased at the Auto Expo 2023.
Tata Harrier EV Price: The Harrier EV will rub shoulders with MG ZS EV and the Hyundai Kona EV. Expect pricing to start at around the Rs 20.99 lakh for the base version and hitting Rs 25 lakh plus for the top spec version. This will also ensure the Harrier EV will not overlap the pricing of the Nexon EV Max.
Design: The electric version of the Harrier SUV looks a lot like the normal diesel model. However, there are ample changes to give it a different unique identity. The front is sharp and modern with ‘closed’ grille concept. The bumper is all new and so are the alloy wheels. These do look cool and futuristic. The same design theme gets carried at the back as well. Expect both dual tone and single tone paint schemes at launch.
Battery & Motor: When launched, the Tata Harrier EV will be the flaship electric model for the company. Expect it come with segment topping battery pack which means a 55+ kWH battery pack. This should be big enough to give it a certified range of close to 500km or 300km+ easily in real world driving situations. The power from the pack will go to the electric motor that could produce 160-180 bhp of power and 350-400 Nm of torque. Expect drive modes as well as selectable regen levels.
Features: The 2023 Harrier EV will be the most feature loaded car in the segment. This will include ADAS, panoramic sunroof, 360 camera, HUD, ventilated and powered seats, full connected app suite among others. Tata might offer segment’s first captain seats in the 2nd row as well - though these remain a strong rumour for now. As Harrier EV is based on Tata Motors' second-gen EV architecture, it would be equipped with technologies like V2L (Vehicle To Load) and V2V (Vehicle To Vehicle) charging capabilities. This means Harrier EV would be able to charge other EVs and electrical/electronic appliances like TV, AC, Microwave, Fridge, etc.
Rivals: The Tata Harrier EV will not have a direct rival as such. However, given the pricing, it will be in the same band as the MG ZS EV and the Hyundai Kona. In terms of road presence, the Harrier EV will be much better looking.
