OnePlus has come out with another new series the OnePlus 9 series. The base model of this series is its namesake the OnePlus 9. With Oppo being accused of not giving enough attention to the base models in its flagship series, this phone begs to differ. A solid camera, high-tech processor, and superb audio quality are a few tricks that the OnePlus 9 has up its sleeves. Though the OnePlus 9 is well thought of to target both the premium as well as the economical customers, there are a few let downs. In terms of body design and the quality of the rear panel, Oppo has taken a few steps backward (more on that later).

The first thing that will catch your attention about this phone is the SoC that powers it. The OnePlus 9 is geared with an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 that offers blazing speed along with 5g connectivity. Interestingly this is the same SoC that OnePlus has used on its pro variant OnePlus 9 Pro which shows that OnePlus is stepping things up in the base variants of its flagship.
Paired with this top-notch processor is 12GB RAM or 8GB RAM along with 256GB or 128GB internal storage respectively. The GPU duty is handled by the Adreno 660 that delivers its worth. The Soc, GPU, and RAM offer a performance that will always keep your OnePlus 9 up to the speed you want it to be.
If you are in the market looking only for a phone that offers you a super-fast SoC, the OnePlus 9 is the best phone you can get your hands-on with the price tag it carries. The SoC completely justifies the price tag, perhaps the most compared to any other feature.

Summary
OnePlus flagships are known to have a vivid and colorful display and the OnePlus 9 does not disappoint. A 6.55-inch fluid AMOLED display with a variable 120Hz refresh rate means that your screen will never go unresponsive to your touch. The bezels on the OnePlus 9 are flat unlike the curved ones on the OnePlus 9 Pro. The screen supports a full HDR+ display and has a 20:9 aspect ratio. You also get a pixel density of 402 Pixel per Inch (PPI) with a brightness of 1100 nits. The refresh rate is a standard 120 Hz that drops down to 60Hz while using some applications to save battery. The fingerprint sensor is placed in-screen though in a low region which makes it a little awkward but it is efficient. The colors produced are crisp and vibrant. You also get the tone settings to adjust your screen to your needs. Brightness is very well produced and the viewing angles offer an immersive experience.
Summary
The OnePlus 9 has a sleek and thin body design and under that, it packs a huge 4500 mAh battery to power it. The battery backup on this phone is something that OnePlus has tried to step up. The OnePlus 9 lasts up to 17 hours on continuous usage watching videos. Even with a bit of casual gaming and surfing social media, you can rest assured that your phone will last you a complete day. Though heavy gaming seems to quickly drain the battery with the 65W charger that comes in the box it is claimed that your phone will be fully charged in under thirty minutes. Even heavy camera usage seems to get the same results of low battery backup. But considering normal usage conditions, a high battery backup is one of the star points of the OnePlus 9.
Summary
The OnePlus 9 flagship was in the talks of the town because of its Hasselblad partnership. With the OnePlus 9 that partnership is bearing its fruits. There are a few changes that the OnePlus made that make this phone a delight to capture pictures with. The 48 MP main snapper has a Hasselblad color science technology incorporated that provides vivid colors without compromising on any details. The 50 MP ultra-wide sensor and the 2 MP depth sensor are exactly designed as the Pro variant. Safe to say, daylight photography is bliss with the OnePlus 9.
The only letdown is the optical stabilization that OnePlus decided to leave out. This a very strange decision and makes capturing close-ups a tad more difficult. Other than that, landscape and low-light photography are also top-notch given their price tag. The selfie camera is not that up to the mark given its price tag. If you manage to angle the phone properly you will get some good clicks with the selfie camera but overall, the quality remains average.
Summary
The design department is the only region where OnePlus has taken a few steps backward. The first thing you notice right out of the box is the polycarbonate shell used on the exterior. A compromise OnePlus made to keep the price tag on the OnePlus 9 lower. But even with all the efforts, at a price tag upwards of INR 50k, a plastic shell is not very appealing. Though the rear panel has metallic look to it, the feel is less premium than expected. The only plus points are that the OnePlus 9 is lighter and the control buttons have good tactile feedback.
