The Oppo A16 packs inside a MediaTek Helio G35 which is a very basic SoC. The SoC is best suited for day to day tasks and is not exactly suitable for gaming. The Helio G35 SoC has a maximum clock speeds of up to 2.3 GHz. Paired with the MediaTek Helio G35 you get 4 GB of RAM which is the main reason that the G35 cannot run in a super smooth manner. If gaming is kept aside other tasks like social media browsing and casual surfing can be easily handled by the G35 on the Oppo A16. But the average user looking for a phone in the price segment of the Oppo A16 does not require a phone that runs like a cheetah. There are no visible crashes or lags but the phone does feel a bit slow given the G35 SoC can leverage only 4 GB of RAM. The GPU details are handled by the IMG PowerVR GE8320.

Summary
This is one segment where Oppo has done a very below average job. There are a lot of drawbacks to the display and it really puts into question if the display was given enough design thought. For one, the Oppo A16 does not have any of the fancy AMOLED or OLED screen you would expect. It has a 6.52 inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels. The display resolution is underwhelming considering that in its class, there are competitors that offer 1080p to 1440p of resolution. Another disappointing aspect of the display is the very low pixel density that it has. The Oppo A16 has a pixel density of mere 270 pixels per inch. The screen also has a low body to screen ratio at only 88.7%. The display claims to be designed for gaming but has a refresh rate of only 60 Hz. A standout feature of the display is that it comes with an HD+ resolution that also offers eye care and protection from blue light.
Summary
The battery pack on the Oppo A16 is the only segment that just stands an inch above the competition. The Oppo A16 packs a 5000mAh battery which is average sized but better optimized. Though the phone is not exactly built to game, even gaming and lots of casual browsing can be easily handled by the Oppo A16. The battery life is exceptional and for a casual user it should last them the entire day without any issues. Charging you phone overnight is something everyone does and surprisingly, the Oppo A16 comes prepared for it. The Oppo A16 comes with an Optimized Night Charge AI that prevents the phone from overcharging and keeps the battery temperature to a minimum.
Summary
The Oppo A16 is a budget attempt made by Oppo to give a decent phone camera. The camera comprises of a 13 MP main snapper, a 2 MP macro sensor and a 2 MP depth sensor completing a mediocre triple camera setup. There are a few decent technologies included with the AI triple camera. Daylight photography is average and only enhanced using the Dazzle mode or the Bokeh filters. Other than that, there is no dedicated technology for night photography and thus night clicks are not something you would want to show off. The front camera is an 8 MP lens that comes with AI beautification but its raw 8 MP strength is too underwhelming to give proper picture reproduction.
Summary
The Oppo A16 comes with a glossy finish at the rear with three color options but is also prone to smudges and scratches. The Oppo A16 is a bit on the heavier side with the phone weighing in at 190g. The buttons on the Oppo A16 have been tested stringently for their long life. The Oppo A16 completes its rear look with a camera housing in glass black and the front look with a water drop notch display. On first glance it does not look like the Oppo A16 is a budget phone.
