Samsung Galaxy M31

Samsung Galaxy M31 follows the same design as the M30s. It is a lightweight phone with a battery power 6000mAh. The phone looks great in its 8.9mm, sleek, and weighs 191gms. This lightweight design is the result of using polycarbonate instead of glass for the back panel. It comes in two colours: Ocean Blue and Space Black.

Build

The Samsung Galaxy M32 is well built and sturdy. The display has a U-shape notch. The Galaxy M31 has a dedicated card slot with a 15W USB Type-C charging port and a 3.5mm audio jack. On the right side, there is a power button with a volume rocker above. Four rear-facing cameras are housed in a sizable square-shaped camera module in the left-hand corner. 

Security

The rear-mounted oval-shaped fingerprint scanner is fast and reliable to unlock. Fast Face Unlock. The display is shielded by Gorilla Glass 3(which is more scratch-resistant and less drop-resistant) with no flexes in the rear panel.

The Samsung Galaxy M31 display is about 6.4 inches, having the same size and resolution as the M30s. The good-quality super AMOLED panel means users enjoy an elaborate, always-on display and a darker mode. There are two colour profiles – Natural and Vivid. 

The Samsung Galaxy M31 uses the same 10nm process based on Exynos 9611 octa-core SoC. It might not be a fast processor but exerts a decent performance. 

The M31 chipset doesn't match with Snapdragon series-7, which the other 'gaming phones' use within a similar budget. But it worked quite well for the users who aren't especially inclined towards gaming. 

In terms of performance, launching apps and switching between them was quick, with no noticeable lag anywhere during the review.

Samsung Galaxy M31 holds a massive 6,000mAh battery like the M30s. From daily usage to gaming and media consumption, the Galaxy M31's battery life is impressive. After thorough usage, the phone can easily last well over a day and a half on lighter use that involves browsing through social media and messaging.

The user interface was responsive and polished. The software running on the Samsung Galaxy M31 phone is Android 10-based OneUI 2.0. One UI is one of our favourite custom skins, and if you ask us, it's the advantage of Samsung over Chinese UXs. 

The Samsung Galaxy M31 has a Widevine L1 certificate, and users will stream HD content. 

The primary sensor now has a 64MP resolution ISOCELL Bright GW1 Sensor. Other shooters completing the quartet are – 5MP macro camera, 8MP wide-angle camera, and 5MP basic depth sensor.

On the front, there's a 32MP selfie snapper that can shoot 4k Videos and slow fires. The primary lens can take excellent shots in any condition with a fast aperture of f/1.8.

It also houses an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, a 5-megapixel macro camera, and a 5-megapixel depth sensor. Daylight camera performance is good, but low-light camera performance was slightly better than M30s. The photos taken through the macro lens are not sharp.

The AR emoji feature of the Samsung Galaxy M31 uses the phone's front-facing camera to mimic your expressions into cute characters similar to Apple's Animoji. Then there are slow-motion selfies, a feature that's currently only available on the Galaxy M31.
