Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro

Redmi Note 5 Pro Xiaomi design is not the best out there, but it isn’t the worst. With a slim demeanor and tall screen of 5.99-inch display that comes with Gorilla Glass protection and supports full HD+ image quality, the phone looks decent. It is available in Lake Blue, Red, Rose Gold, Gold, and Black colors, and all these colors look fresh. 

The phone’s metal chassis makes it slightly heavy, as the phone weighs 181 grams. It comes with a headphone jack and micoSD card slot available in the sim tray, which also has room for two nano-SIM cards.

The thick bezels, especially on the top and bottom, might dishearten few people who want to flaunt bezel-less phones, but it shouldn’t be that much of a concern for others. The display is sufficiently bright, and its build quality is good with excellent finishing. The 6GB and 4GB variants come with 64GB internal memory, but you can expand the memory up to 128GB by purchasing a microSD card separately. 

On its back, there is a fingerprint sensor and a camera module that has a slight bump. The phone’s bottom consists of speakers, a micro-USB port, a microphone, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The volume and power buttons are placed on the phone’s right and slightly on the upper side, making it hard to reach. Its curved bottom and rounded edges make it comfortable to hold. 

As we have said before, this is a camera-centric phone, and therefore, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro camera specifications are worth drooling over. The rear camera module consists of a 12MP primary sensor and a 5MP secondary sensor. The camera app is user-friendly and easy-to-use.

The front camera is a 20MP sensor that captures stunning selfies in both normal mode and portrait mode. However, the HDR does not give that much of an effect with the selfie camera. The phone also has a selfie light that manages to make your face glow in dark and low-light conditions. 

Redmi Note 5 Pro comes with Beautify 4.0, enhancing your facial looks and features automatically by using artificial intelligence. The rear camera does a good job of capturing great details and vivid colors in daylight, and you can capture videos up to 4K resolution, and the option of 1080p is also not bad at all. 

However, we weren’t impressed with the manual mode as it offers only a few features. Overall, the camera is great, especially as this phone is priced under Rs. 10,000. 

At the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro launch in February 2018, this phone carried the outdated Android O.S Nougat. Still, the new update of Android Oreo with Volte Support for both the SIM cards makes it that much better in terms of performance and speed. 

The Snapdragon 636 works perfectly and enables you to perform multitasking with ease. Even the phone’s gaming performance is top-notch, but you will notice that the phone heats up a little too much if you play games consistently. Xiaomi has applied the MIUI 9 skin on the operating system that looks great and feels smooth. 

The RAM can work consistently even if multiple apps have been launched and manage to make everything smooth to provide superior overall performance to the users. We hope that Xiaomi rolls a higher Android version for this phone soon as the Android Oreo is still a dated OS.  

The face unlocks works perfectly fine, and even the fingerprint scanner is accurate and quickly most of the time. Overall, it is a phone that manages to showcase a stellar performance despite not having the best hardware and software support. 

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro battery life will certainly impress you as its 4000mAh battery doesn’t need to be juiced up now and then. With consistent usage, the phone can sustain anywhere between 13 and 14 hours, and frugal users will find one charge sufficient for an entire day.

The phone charges slowly because it does not support fast charging, and though it comes with a 2A charger that takes quite a time to charge the phone up to its full capacity. The call quality and audio while playing music files and videos are also up to the mark.

The Redmi Note 5 Pro’s reinforced corners will prevent the phone’s screen from getting damaged from minor falls and accidents. However, don’t expect that this phone will bear too much pressure or shock as phones priced this low are not built to last forever.
