The 5G network is expected to be available soon in the country as the rollout of the upcoming services is on track. Besides, India is participating in the development of the 6G standards, said Union Minister for Electronics and IT Ashwini Vaishnaw on Tuesday at India Telecom 2022 business expo.
“The country has also developed its own indigenously developed 4G core & radio network. The 5G network is also in its final stages of development. The country is participating today in the development of 6G standards, in the thought process of 6G,” he said.
This development comes soon after Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced that spectrum auctions will be conducted in the coming months.
“Spectrum auctions will be conducted in 2022 to facilitate the roll-out of 5G mobile services within 2022-23 by private telecom providers,” Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced while Union Budget 2022-23 speech.
She said that both 5G services and the telecom sector will create job opportunities. “A scheme for design-led manufacturing will be launched to build a strong ecosystem for 5G as part of the production-linked incentive scheme,” FM Sitharaman said.
In addition, the government announced that 13 metro cities will be getting 5G services in 2022. i.e. Jamnagar, Hyderabad, Pune, Lucknow, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Gurugram, Chandigarh, Bangalore, Ahmadabad, and Gandhinagar.
K Rajaraman, Chairman DCC & Secretary (T), Department of Telecommunications said, “ 5G is going to play a crucial role in evolving the tech industry, 5G would pave the way for bringing new used cases to life that can lead to a proliferation of FinTech solutions in the Indian as well as in Global markets, 5G equipment are being manufactured in India for the world.”
