Nothing is all set to bring its first-ever Android smartphone called the Nothing Phone (1)on July 12 in India. The device will also be marking its presence in the remaining global markets with the unique transparent back design and premium mid-range hardware. While most of the features have been confirmed by the brand itself, the chipset details have been kept a mystery all this while. Now, Nothing’s Chief, Carl Pei himself has cleared all the air related to the Nothing Phone (1) processor.
Nothing Phone (1) Chipset Qualcomm Snapdragon Chipset Finally Announced
The Nothing Phone (1) has been subject to numerous leaks. Some leaks tipped the octa-core Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor, others hinted at the Snapardgaon 778G gaming chipset. It’s the latter that will be powering the Nothing Phone (1); Snapdragon 778G+ to be precise. This finally puts a rest on all the rumors and confirms that the upcoming Nothing phone will indeed be launched as a premium mid-tier phone and not a high-end flagship. The USP would majorly be the transparent back design.
Nothing is betting high on the Glyph interface where the LEDs beneath the transparent panel can be customized. The remaining aspects; specifically the hardware will be suitable for the premium mid-range users in the market. Furthermore, Nothing also reveals the Nothing Phone (1)’s Snapdragon 778G+ chipset is custom-tuned. How exactly this chipset is different from the Snapdragon 778G+ processor is currently not specified by the brand.
But if we believe the latest set of reports, the “+” symbol on the Snapdragon 778G+ denotes the support for both wireless and reverse charging support. However, these are just speculations and Nothing has not yet confirmed any such details. Therefore, we suggest you take this information with a grain of salt.
We already know the remaining details related to the Nothing Phone (1) hardware. The octa-core Snapdragon 778G+ processor might be combined with at least 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. It is said to boot on Android 12 OS which will be wrapped around the Nothing OS.
Nothing has used an AMOLED screen on the Phone (1) that is 6.5-inches in size. The screen will support 1080P FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The leaked renders and design have showcased a waterdrop style notch instead of a punch-hole camera cutout. If we speak of the optics, a 50MP triple-lens camera module along with the 32MP selfie snapper. Rounding off the spec-sheet is a 4,500 mAh with 45W charging support.
