For years, air travelers have struggled with being disconnected during flights. However, change is finally here. Air India has introduced in-flight Wi-Fi services. This helps passengers to stay connected even while soaring through the skies. Here’s all you need to know.

Wi-Fi Connectivity Rules And Availability

The Flight and Maritime Connectivity (Amendment) Rules, 2024 allow Wi-Fi usage once a flight reaches an altitude of 3,000 meters or above. Flyers can now access the internet via smartphones, laptops, and tablets. Currently, Air India offers this service on select domestic flights. This includes the Airbus A350, Boeing 787-9, and Airbus A321 Neo planes.

Air India plans to extend the service to more aircraft soon with trial programs already conducted on international routes to Paris, New York, London, and Singapore.

Initially, the in-flight Wi-Fi service is being offered free of cost to passengers. However, Air India has announced plans to introduce charges after the introductory period. Passengers will also have the flexibility to connect multiple devices to the network during their journey.

How To Connect To Air India Wi-Fi

Connecting to Air India’s in-flight WiFi is a simple process:

Step 1: Turn on Wi-Fi on your device.

Step 2: Select the Air India Wi-Fi network.

Step 3: You’ll be redirected to the Air India Wi-Fi portal.

Step 4: Enter your last name and PNR number. The Wi-Fi will then get connected to your device.

It’s important to note that the service activates only after the aircraft reaches a height of 10,000 feet.

With more aircraft set to feature this service soon, Air India is poised to revolutionize connectivity in Indian aviation. So, next time you fly, get ready to stay online at 30,000 feet.
