Three new high speed electric scooters – Eagle Plus, Gryphon, Tuff Plus From Shema Electric

The electric mobility space is expanding at an extremely rapid pace in India. And at the on-going EV India Expo in Greater Noida, a lot of electric manufactures have either showcased their products or launched new models. Among these is SES Shema TM E-Vehicle & Solar Pvt. Ltd. The company launched three new models under the HS or high-speed category. While the Eagle Plus and Gryphon are geared towards private use, the Tuff Plus is a great introduction for the logistics industry. Do note, prices for the scooter are not out yet.

The Impressive part

Let me quickly take you through some highlights that are common with all the three models.  Shema claims that the new scooters are 100% made in India. This means the models are Fame 2 subsidy compliant. The battery of all the three scooters is IP 67 waterproof rated. These also get CAN display and CAN enabled batteries so that users or fleet owners can use the mobile application or connect the laptop for any diagnoses that need to be done. The scooters come with a warranty of 3 years or 60,000, whichever is earlier. All three models also front telescopic forks and dual shock absorbers at the rear. The display is LCD and the models get riding modes as well.

Shema Eagle Plus

This high speed electric scooter is based on the regular LS or low speed Eagle model that Shema has been selling for a while. It gets a 48V 65AH NMC battery that is fixed and not removable or portable. The scooter is powered by a 1200 watt BLDC motor that is IP67 waterproof rated. Shema claims the Eagle Plus will do about 120 km on a full charge and can hit a top speed of 50 km/h. The rated payload stands at 180 kgs, which is more than enough when riding with a pillion. Charging time for the battery stands at 3-4 hours.

Shema Gryphon

The high speed Gryphon electric scooter is based on the LS or low speed Hobby that Shema has been selling for a while. It has better performance than the Eagle Plus and this down to the 62.9V 65Ah battery and the 1500 watt electric motor. Both the battery and motors are IP 67 waterproof rated. The Gryphon can hit a top speed of 60 km/h and offers a riding range of 130km on a full charge. Maximum payload is same as the Eagle Plus. Charging time for the battery stands at 3-4 hours.

Shema Tuff Plus

And finally the high speed electric scooter for the commercial and logistics industry – the Tuff Plus. This one is based on the regular low speed Tuff that Shema has been selling for a while. The Tuff Plus comes with bare minimum body panels. Like the Gryphon, this one also gets a 1500 watt IP 67 rated motor. Top speed and range are also similar to that of the Gryphon but the Tuff Plus has a higher payload capacity of 200 kg. This is super impressive for the category. Charging time for the battery stands at 3-4 hours.

Tata Nexon EV Jet Edition Explained : Including Images

Tata Motors has been launching various editions and limited period colour options for its range of cars in India. The latest ones come in the form of the Jet Editions for the Harrier, Safari, normal Nexon and Nexon EV. While prices for all ICE (internal combustion engine) Jet editions are out, Tata is yet to reveal the same for the Nexon EV. Apart from this little piece of information, we do know a lot about what all has changed.

Nexon EV Jet Edition Price & Versions

The Jet edition of Nexon Electric will only be offered in the top end XZ+ Lux trim of the Nexon EV. Thankfully, the Jet version will be available for both the regular Nexon EV Prime and the new long range Nexon EV Max. Though prices are not out, we expect the Jet edition to carry a premium of about Rs 25,000. This means the Nexon EV Prime Jet would be about Rs 17.55 lakh and the Max about Rs 19.59 lakh, both prices being ex-showroom Delhi.

Nexon EV Jet Edition Exteriors

This new edition gets a dual-tone Starlight outside colour theme. The main body is finished in earthy bronze colour while the upper part gets a platinum silver finish. This does look good and lends the SUV an upmarket, polished look. The front grille, outside mirrors and alloy wheels are finished in black. If you look closely, you can make out that even the EV badging isn’t green or blue, but seems to be finished in dark chrome. Likewise, Nexon branding on the back is also finished in black.

Nexon EV Jet Edition Interiors

While the design of the cabin remains unchanged, the Jet edition gets a new colour theme on the inside. The dashboard is finished in techno steel bronze finish and the same theme is also applied to the door pads – all four doors, not just the driver’s one. The seats are finished in Oyster white leatherette seat covers and look great. The contrast stitching and bronze theme for the #Jet branding on the front head rests also looks nice.

The same upholstery also is also seen at the back, including the arm-rest. As the Jet edition is based on the top end Lux trim, the car also comes with wireless charging, ventilated seats and a sunroof.

Ola S1 vs Ola S1 Pro : What Do You Miss For Saving Rs 40,000

Ola launched a more affordable version of its electric scooter a few days back. This one misses out on the ‘Pro’ badge and simply called the Ola S1. The big news is that this new S1 is Rs 40,000 cheaper than the S1 Pro and this indeed is a big number. We are sure a lot of you out there are curious to know the list of omissions and cost cutting measures on the S1 and hence this article. Scroll down to know all that you need to know on Ola S1 vs Ola S1 Pro comparison

Heart of the matter

The biggest chunk of savings comes from the smaller battery pack in the (new) regular S1. This one gets a smaller 3 kWh battery pack (25% smaller) and this in turn also reduces the riding range from a true 170km to 128km. As per ARAI certification, while the S1 Pro can go as long as 181km, the S1 will do only 141. So there is a clear difference in terms of usable range from both the models. Ola has also restricted the top speed in the S1 to 95 km/h. This is down from an impressive 116 km/h that the S1 Pro is capable of. The S1 is also slower to 40 km/h, taking 3.8 seconds as compared to just 2.9 seconds that the Pro takes. The smaller battery pack on the S1, as expected, takes only 5 hrs for a full charge as against 6.5 hrs for the Pro.

Change in features

Another aspect of this Ola S1 vs Ola S1 Pro comparison is about the features on offer. If you put down your money for the S1 (Rs 99,999), you will not get the useful cruise control feature. Likewise, the S1 does not get the Hyper mode that the Pro offers. All other features remain same but Ola has restricted the colour options for the S1. While the Pro can be had in as many as 11 colors, the S1 can only be ordered in five colour options. Also, as the new S1 has a smaller battery, it is lighter by 4 kilos – this will make a minute difference in its agility factor.

Dimensionally and design wise, there is nothing to speak about in this Ola S1 vs Ola S1 Pro comparison. Both the models look identical. Ola has surely launched the cut price S1 to take on the soon to be launched Simple One Electric scooter. The EV market is heating up and in the end, it will be the consumer who will benefit a lot! Which one would you pick – the S1 or the S1 Pro?

EBikeGo MUVI City Electric Scooter Launch Soon

The world of electric scooters is fast expanding in India. This year will witness a slew of launches and this includes the rather large MUVI City from the house of EBikeGo as well. This is actually the European Torrot Muvi but will be made in India by EBikeGo. While there are no details available on the pricing front, company’s CEO recently posted updates on Linkedin. For the uninitiated, EBikeGo is an electric mobility company based out of Mumbai. The company has been providing rental e-bikes, battery charging infra and industry-related various EV products & services.

At first glance, the upcoming EBikeGo MUVI City does stand out from the usual crop of electric scooters in India. Like the recently launched Okinawa Okhi-90, this one too makes use of large wheels (16 inch size) and this indeed gives it good road presence and a sporty stance. It looks a lot like a large step thru and has minimal body panels to keep the overall weight as low as possible which helps in overall performance. Another unique feature is the use of two removable lithium-ion battery packs. These are stored under the seat of the scooter and can either be swapped with fully-charged packs at a battery swap station or can be charged at home using a standard plug point.

The company’s website claims that the MUVI City e-scooter will do 80km on a full charge and will hit a top speed of 70 km/h. Charging time for the batteries is 4-5 hours. The MUVI was originally designed in Europe and boasts of a robust yet lightweight chassis, an innovative rear shock absorber system and front hydraulic forks. EBikeGo claims all this provides the rider with impressive agility, easy handling & stability, thanks to its small size and height.

Further, the scooter comes with a 4″ LCD display, supports Bluetooth connectivity, offers remote diagnosis by APP – this allows direct communication with Business Intelligence Unit with GPRS data. There is no news on the launch time period or the pricing. However stay tuned to get more updates soon!
