The budget smartphone segment has been popular amongst the Indian audience for a long. But, the smartphone OEMs are now focusing majorly on the mid-range segment. And 5G smartphones seem to be the new craze despite the unavailability of this network in the Indian market yet. Similar to the budget segment, Chinese brands such as Xiaomi, Poco, Realme, and others are the aggressive players in the affordable 5G smartphone segment in India and the remaining global markets.
Poco recently launched its latest offering for the mid-range audience backed with 5G network support. The company has added some upgrades over the Poco M3 Pro 5G such as a new processor, a bigger display, and a bigger primary camera sensor. The Poco M4 Pro 5G gets is primary competition from the Realme 8S 5G which uses the same SoC as the Poco model. Poco M4 Pro 5G Vs Poco M3 Pro 5G Vs Realme 8S 5G: Display, Camera Comparison
The Poco M4 Pro 5G is the only variant in the lot which has a slightly bigger display panel. It is announced with a 6.60-inch display which is an IPS LCD display that supports 1080 x 2400 pixels FHD+ resolution. The panel further supports a 90Hz refresh rate and has a 20:9 aspect ratio.
On the other hand, both Poco M3 Pro 5G and the Realme 8S 5G features the same sized 6.50-inch display. Both handsets support 1080p screen resolution as the Poco M4 Pro 5G and a punch-hole camera cutout for the selfie camera. The refresh rate supported by the remaining two models is also 90Hz. Display-wise, there isn’t much difference you would find on all these three handsets except for the slightly taller form factor on the Poco M4 Pro 5G.
Coming to the camera hardware, the Poco M4 Pro 5G features a dual-camera setup while the Poco M3 Pro 5G and the Realme 8S 5G come features a triple-lens setup. Speaking of the specifications, the Poco M4 Pro 5G’s dual-camera module has a 50MP main lens which has an f/1.8 aperture.
The primary lens is accompanied by an 8MP ultra-wide-angle sensor with an f/2.2 aperture. Whereas, the Poco M3 Pro 5G’s triple camera setup at the rear features a 48MP main camera with an f/1.79 aperture along with a set of 2MP sensors with an f/2.4 aperture. The Realme 8S 5G also sports three camera sensors at the back comprising a 64MP main sensor and a pair of 2MP sensors.
Poco M4 Pro 5G Vs Poco M3 Pro 5G Vs Realme 8S 5G: Hardware, Software, Battery Differences
The Poco M4 Pro 5G and the Realme 8S 5G share the same chipset under the hood. Both devices are announced with the octa-core Dimensity 810 octa-core processor which is based on a 6nm fabrication process and has 5G network support.
The Poco M3 Pro 5G also uses a Dimensity series processor (Dimensty 700 SoC) with which it becomes the most affordable 5G handset on the list. Speaking of the configurations, the Poco M4 Pro 5G comes with up to 6GB RAM and 128GB storage option, while the Poco M3 Pro also has up to 6GB RAM and 128GB storage option.
Lastly, the Realme 8S 5G is the only model in this lot that has a higher up to 8GB RAM and 128GB storage configuration. The firmware is the same on all models, i.e Android 11 OS with a respective custom skin on top. The battery capacity on all three devices is a 5,000 mAh unit combined with proprietary fast charging support.
