Ola Electric’s EV venture has been fairly successful in India. The electric two wheeler startup has set a steady pace in the EV race with its S1 e-scooter range. The company recently grabbed the headlines for extending the discount deals on the S1 e-scooter lineup for entire month of March, 2024. Meanwhile, the brand has also revealed its latest achievement for the Ola S1 Pro Gen 2 e-scooter. Bagging its PLI certification from ICAT, the S1 Pro Gen 2 has become the second model from OLA to get this recognition. How does the brand benefits from this latest certification? OLA S1 Pro Gen 2 E-Scooter PLI Certification: What Is It?

OLA Electric has made this announcement which reveals the S1 Pro Gen 2 has just been recognized by the International Center For Automotive Technology (ICAT) and given a PLI certification (Production Linked Incentive). This certification is awarded to the brands who are emphasizing on local production instead of relying on importing parts for manufacturing.

How Will OLA Benefit From Second PIL Certification?

This initiative which aims to boost localization with manufacturing was first introduced back in 2021 with an approx. budget of Rs. 25.93 lakh. As mentioned, the S1 Pro Gen 2 is second OLA electric scooter to get PLI certification in India.

And all thanks to this PLI certification, OLA electric has now become eligible to receive special incentives starting FY2024. The EV startup will receive incentives ranging somewhere between 13 to 18 percent of their e-scooters’ DSV (Determined Sale Value).

OLA S1 Pro 2nd Gen Top Highlights

The Ola S1 Pro 2nd Gen e-scooter was introduced last year in the Indian market somewhere around September. This updated version offers better performance metrics than the older variant. Powered by a mid-drive IPM motor, the S1 Pro 2nd Gen delivers a higher peak power of 11 kW and 58 Nm of torque.

The first-gen model only delivered around 8.5 kW peak power. With its 4 kWh battery, the S1 Pro 2nd Gen e-scooter offers 125 km per charge claimed range. It can accelerate from 0- 40 kmph in just 2.6 seconds.

Swedish automaker Volo has expanded the XC40 Recharge EV lineup in India by adding a new variant. The latest Volvo XC40 Recharge EV model’s motor setup is the differential factor over the existing models. With a price range starting under Rs. 60 lakh, the XC40 Recharge new variant is listed o the official website and is confirmed to be imported as CKD unit in the country.

Volvo XC40 Recharge Plus Model Powertrain: What’s Changed?

The Volvo XC40 Recharge Plus is new model which sits below the top end XC40 Recharge E80 model. Now, the primary difference between both the variants is the drivetrain option. The newly launched model comes with a single electric motor which is mounted on the rear axle. Just for reference, the high-end variant of the XC40 Recharge has an AWD (all wheel drive) drivetrain and a dual-motor setup.

Besides the motor setup, the battery pack is also changed in the new XC40 Recharge model. It gets a smaller 69 kWh battery unit unlike the AWD variant which equips a larger 79 kWh battery module. Now, coming to the performance delivery, the single electric motor variant of the XC40 Recharge pumps out 236 BHP of peak power and 420 Nm of peak torque.

Despite featuring a smaller battery pack compared to the AWD model, the XC40 Recharge single motor model is claimed to offer around 475 km range per charge (WLTP) and up to 592 km range (ICAT). This entry-level unit can sprint to a max speed of up to 180 kmph and throttle from 0-100 kmph in just 7.3 seconds.

Feature-wise, it doesn’t get any major changes. It offers a panoramic sunroof, connected car tech, wireless mobile charging, and more. It also gets Level 2 ADAS and Autonomous driving feature which enhances the passenger security.

Volvo XC40 Recharge Single Motor Variant India Price

The Volvo XC40 Recharge base model with the single electric motor gets a price tag of Rs. 54.95 lakh in India. This variant will be retailing at around Rs. 2 lakh less than the AWD variant. As previously mentioned, this model will be brought to the Indian shores via the CKD import route.

MG ZS EV All Variants List

The MG ZS EV’s latest model introduced in the Indian market is called the Excite Pro. This is the fourth trim added the ZS EV range. The remaining variants that buyers can select from includes the Executive, Exclusive Plus, and Essence. The newly launched MG ZS EV Excite Pro is a mid-range model and sits between the Executive (base mode) and the Exclusive Plus.

MG ZS EV Prices (All Models)

The MG ZS EV starting price is below Rs. 20 lakh in India. As for the latest Excite Pro (ex showroom) model, it has been launched at Rs. 19.98 lakh (ex showroom). This is one lakh more than the base model (Executive) which is priced at Rs. 18.98 lakh (ex showroom). On the other hand, the MG ZS EV’s third trim called Exclusive Plus carries a price tag of Rs. 23.98 lakh (ex showroom) and the top-spec Essence Pro model is priced at Rs. 24.98 lakh.

New MG ZS EV (Excite Pro) Highlight Features

The MG ZS EV Excite Pro model’s top highlight feature is the panoramic sunroof under Rs. 20 lakh starting price. Additionally, this electric SUV offers a plethora of advanced security features including Level 2 ADAS, Speed Assist, Forward Collision assist, and more. It also comes with Traffic Jam Assist and Adaptive cruise control features.

This electric SUV features a single electric motor linked to a decent 50.3 kWh battery pack. The ZS EV produces a peak power output of 174 BHP and can generate 353 Nm of torque. With the integrated battery pack it can offer up to 461 km of maximum driving range.

OLA S1X Electric Scooter Lineup New Color Options

OLA electric has now added five new dual tone color options to the S1X electric scooter lineup. Buyers will get to select the S1X electric scooter lineup from Funk, Midnight, Red Velocity, Stellar, and Vogue. With this, the Ola S1X and the S1X+ electric scooter is now available in seven different color choices. Previously available options includes Liquid Silver and Porcelain White.

What About The Prices?

The new OLA S1X electric scooters will carry the same price label as the current two color options. No, changes have been made to their respective ex-showroom costs. In fact, the new color variants of the S1X and the S1X+ electric scooters will also receive the extended discounts of up to Rs. 25,000 for the month of March.

That said, the OLA S1X+ e-scooter will be selling at Rs. 84,999. On the other hand, the base variant of the S1X with 2kWh battery will be retailing for Rs. 79,999 and the 3kWh battery variant is being sold at Rs. 89,999. The OLA S1X with the biggest 4kWh battery is priced at Rs. 1,09,999 (combined with discount offer).

BYD has launched a new premium EV in India. Adding on to its collection, the Chinese EV maker has introduced the Seal EV electric sedan in the country. The powerful EV has debuted in three different variants with the top-of-the-line model offering an AWD (all-wheel-drive) electric drivetrain. Starting at just Rs. 41 lakh, the BYD Seal EV is up for pre-bookings in the country and will be available by the end of this month.

BYD Seal EV Variants In India And Pricing

The BYD Seal EV is launched in three different trims in India and comes with dual battery pack options. The base trim is the Seal EV Dynamic Range and the mid-level trim is the Premium Range. The top-spec Seal EV is called Performance.

Coming to the pricing, the Seal EV Dynamic Range Model is priced at Rs. 41 lakh, while the Seal EV Premium Range model comes with an asking price of Rs. 45.55 lakh. The top-end Seal EV Performance variant is launched at Rs. 53 lakh.

BYD Seal EV Variant Wise Powertrain

BYD Seal EV Dynamic Range model comes with RWD (rear wheel drive) drivetrain and has the electric motor mounted on the rear axle. Power delivery is 204 PS and torque generated is 510 Nm. This base model has a 61.4 kWh battery pack and can deliver up to 510 km range.

The Seal EV Premium Range model also has the same RWD (Rear Wheel Drive) drivetrain. Power delivery is slightly higher and it produces 313 PS of peak power and 360 Nm of peak torque. It gets a bigger 82.5 kWh battery pack and delivers 650 km range per charge.

The top-end BYD Seal EV Performance variants has an AWD (all wheel drive) drivetrain. The electric motor mounted on both front and rear axle churns out 530 PS peak power and 670 Nm peak torque. It is powered by the same 82.5 kWh battery as the Premium Range model and delivers 580 km range per charge.

Hyundai has introduced the facelift model of its premium EV called the Ioniq 5. The facelift version brings along a new attire and has an updated battery setup. Exterior Enhancements

Feature Upgrades

A wide range of features have also been added to the Ioniq 5 facelift model. The dashboard gets dedicated physical keys for the frequently used functions. Passengers will get quick access to variety of features with just a tap such enabling the park assist mode, front-row seat ventilation or heating, and more. Additionally, the infotainment system has been updated with an OTA and now offers several new features.

Powertrain: Primary Upgrades

The biggest mechanical upgrade which the Hyundai Ioniq 5 has received is the inclusion of a bigger battery pack as compared to the standard model. The new facelift version of the Ioniq 5 is packed with an 84 kWh battery which is claimed to provide an extended 631 km range per charge (ARAI-certified).

Hyundai Ioniq 5 Facelift Price

The Hyundai Ionoiq 5 Facelift model is introduced globally with the exact pricing kept under the wraps as of now. Currently, this premium electric SUV’s standard model can be purchased starting at Rs. 45.95 lakh in India. It would be interesting to see how much price difference the facelift model would carry over the standard version.

Tata Nexon.ev has been the most popular compact electric SUVs in India. The Indian automobile giant unveiled the much awaited Dark Edition of the Nexon.ev at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo. The Tata Nexon.ev Dark Edition. as showcased during the Bharat Mibility Global Expo 2024, features an all-black theme. Tata Nexon.EV Dark Edition Powertrain: Any Upgrades?

The mechanics remains unchanged inside the Nexon.ev Dark Edition, so does the safety and utility features. This new variant is also available in Medium Range and Long Range models. The Nexon.ev Dark Edition Medium Range variant has a 30 kWh battery pack and rides up to 325 km on a full charge. The Long Range model features a 40.2 kWh battery with which it can travel up to 465 km per charge.

The Nexon EV is available in two primary configurations: the Medium Range (MR) and Long Range (LR) versions. The MR variant comes with a 30 kWh battery pack, offering a range of 325 kilometers and a peak power output of 127 bhp. On the other hand, the LR variant is equipped with a larger 40.2 kWh battery pack, providing a 465-kilometer range and a power output of 143 bhp.

Tata Nexon.ev Dark Edition India Price

The Tata Nexon.ev Dark Edition is expensive than the standard variant. It is launched starting at Rs. 19.49 lakh (ex showroom) in India. The sub Rs. 20 lakh price for an all-black compact electric SUV is an ideal deal to grab considering the wide range of smart and security features it offers.
