Meanwhile, the brand has also revealed its latest achievement for the Ola S1 Pro Gen 2 e-scooter. OLA S1 Pro Gen 2 E-Scooter PLI Certification: What Is It?

OLA Electric has made this announcement which reveals the S1 Pro Gen 2 has just been recognized by the International Center For Automotive Technology (ICAT) and given a PLI certification (Production Linked Incentive). This certification is awarded to the brands who are emphasizing on local production instead of relying on importing parts for manufacturing.

How Will OLA Benefit From Second PIL Certification?

This initiative which aims to boost localization with manufacturing was first introduced back in 2021 with an approx. budget of Rs. 25.93 lakh. As mentioned, the S1 Pro Gen 2 is second OLA electric scooter to get PLI certification in India.

And all thanks to this PLI certification, OLA electric has now become eligible to receive special incentives starting FY2024. The EV startup will receive incentives ranging somewhere between 13 to 18 percent of their e-scooters’ DSV (Determined Sale Value).

The Ola S1 Pro 2nd Gen e-scooter was introduced last year in the Indian market somewhere around September. This updated version offers better performance metrics than the older variant. Powered by a mid-drive IPM motor, the S1 Pro 2nd Gen delivers a higher peak power of 11 kW and 58 Nm of torque.

The first-gen model only delivered around 8.5 kW peak power. With its 4 kWh battery, the S1 Pro 2nd Gen e-scooter offers 125 km per charge claimed range. It can accelerate from 0- 40 kmph in just 2.6 seconds.

Swedish automaker Volo has expanded the XC40 Recharge EV lineup in India by adding a new variant. The latest Volvo XC40 Recharge EV model’s motor setup is the differential factor over the existing models. The Volvo XC40 Recharge Plus is new model which sits below the top end XC40 Recharge E80 model. Now, the primary difference between both the variants is the drivetrain option. The newly launched model comes with a single electric motor which is mounted on the rear axle. Just for reference, the high-end variant of the XC40 Recharge has an AWD (all wheel drive) drivetrain and a dual-motor setup.

Besides the motor setup, the battery pack is also changed in the new XC40 Recharge model. It gets a smaller 69 kWh battery unit unlike the AWD variant which equips a larger 79 kWh battery module. Now, coming to the performance delivery, the single electric motor variant of the XC40 Recharge pumps out 236 BHP of peak power and 420 Nm of peak torque.

Despite featuring a smaller battery pack compared to the AWD model, the XC40 Recharge single motor model is claimed to offer around 475 km range per charge (WLTP) and up to 592 km range (ICAT). This entry-level unit can sprint to a max speed of up to 180 kmph and throttle from 0-100 kmph in just 7.3 seconds.

Feature-wise, it doesn’t get any major changes. It offers a panoramic sunroof, connected car tech, wireless mobile charging, and more. It also gets Level 2 ADAS and Autonomous driving feature which enhances the passenger security.

Volvo XC40 Recharge Single Motor Variant India Price

The Volvo XC40 Recharge base model with the single electric motor gets a price tag of Rs. 54.95 lakh in India. This variant will be retailing at around Rs. 2 lakh less than the AWD variant. As previously mentioned, this model will be brought to the Indian shores via the CKD import route.

MG Motors has launched new upgraded version of its most compact electric car, i.e, the Comet EV in India. The brand has now introduced two new trims of the Comet EV, while rebadging the older monikers. The newly launched Comet EV models including the Comet EV Executive FC and the Comet EV Exclusive FC are the ones to get a special feature. Both these models will come with fast charging. This makes it the most affordable electric car in the segment to offer fast charging capabilities. But MG Motors haven’t confirmed the exact charging speeds which both the newly launched variants will support.

Besides this, the remaining powertrain and feature sheets remains intact with all the Comet EV variants. The common set of features they offer includes DRL integrated turn-by-turn indicators, hill-hold assist, and electronic parking brake, etc.

That said, the powertrain includes a single electric motor with 42 PS peak power and 110 Nm peak torque. The compact electric car is equipped with a 17.3 kWh battery pack with which it runs to a max of up to 230 km range on a full charge.

New Sokudu Electric Scooter Models Top Features

The Sokud Plus which is the non-RTO model has been launched with the cheapest price tag of Rs. 59,889 in India. The Sokudu Select 2.2 is the most expensive variant in the lot which is priced at Rs. 85,889. On the other hand, th Sokudu Rapid 2.2 is launched with Rs. 79,889 price tag.
