Preloading and Availability Details
On Saturday, Krafton confirmed that BGMI is available for preloading through the Google Play Store from May 27th onwards. Players can download the game or update it if they had it installed previously. However, it’s important to note that the game will not be playable until May 29, the official launch date. While Android users can preload the game, iOS users will have to wait for further updates on the availability of their devices.
Reaching the 100 Million User Mark and Recent Challenges
BGMI’s popularity in India cannot be overstated. After its initial launch in 2021 as the successor to PUBG Mobile, the game swiftly gained an enormous user base, surpassing 100 million users within a year. However, it faced a setback when it was banned in July last year along with several other apps and games in the country.
Some Android users were able to download the game over the past week. However, they reported that the game was not functional, and an error message indicated that the servers were not online. It seems that Krafton has been making adjustments during this period, including the addition of playtime restrictions and changing the colour of blood from red to blue or green.
Trial Approval and Security Measures
BGMI has been granted a three-month “trial approval” to operate in India, as announced by MoS IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar. Krafton has addressed concerns related to server locations and data security to comply with regulations. The government will closely monitor issues such as user harm and addiction during this trial period before making a final decision.
