Despite the fact that Airtel, Reliance Jio, and Vodafone-Idea are conducting 5G trials in India, BSNL is still looking for ways to start 4G services in the country. However, a new report claims that the state-run telecom operator is expected to start 4G services this year in August in the four districts of Kerala.

This new development comes after a new report claims that initially, BSNL 4G services will be available in Ernakulam, Thiruvananthapuram, Kannur, and Kozhikode. Besides, the report claims that the company will launch services in December this year.

800 Towers Might Be Install In Kerala For 4G

Notably, TCS will start 4G trials in four districts. “A total of 800 towers have been approved for Kerala for the trial launch, with Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam having a larger number of those towers. The trial run is concentrated mostly in urban areas with maximum mobile traffic, for real-time testing of how the system holds up, “C.V. Vinod, Chief General Manager, BSNL, Kerala Circle was quoted by The Hindu.

He said, “Once the demonstration is successfully completed, the rollout across the State will begin by December.” It is worth noting that this is the same month when private telecom operators are expected to launch 5G services in the country.

BSNL Might Install To 1.12 Lakh Towers For 4G

Meanwhile, BSNL is likely to install 1.12lakh towers in the country ahead of the 4G network rollout. This information has been shared by Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in the Lok Sabha.

“I am happy to inform you that the 4G telecom network is ready for roll out soon and it is developed in India by Indian engineers and scientists. Our development of 4G network is being appreciated worldwide and it has a core network, radio network with full telecom equipment,” reported by news agency.

He said that the state-run telecom operator is planning to order 6,000 towers initially and another 6,000 towers later and will take this number to 1 lakh towers. The telecom operator will install 4G towers in India. On launching 5G services in the country, he said that it will go parallel and will be available soon.
