Apple Electric Car Launch Just Got Delayed To 2026: It’s Not Fully Autonomous!

Key Highlights

  • Apple Electric car launch postponed to 2026
  • Previous timeline was anticipated in 2025
  • To cost $100,000
  • Will come with self-driving mode

Apple has established itself as a premium tech brand with its high-end devices such as iPhone, iPad, AirPods, and Apple Watch. However, the Cupertino tech giant is all set to take a big leap with its first electric car. The self-driven Apple Electric car is rumored to be under development for a while and rumors were rife it could go official by 2025. But seems like we will have to wait an additional year to experience Apple’s in-house electric car ride. Here are all the developments you should know:

Apple Self-Driven Electric Car Launch Delayed

Apple’s electric car project apparently has taken a setback as per some online reports. The electric vehicle from the Cupertino tech giant which was earlier tipped to be announced sometime in 2025 will now possibly see the light of day in 2026.

It has been a few years since Apple started developing its first-ever electric vehicle taking a big leap from the consumer electronics segment. Apple earlier anticipated the completion of this project called Titan to build its electric car by 2025 years. But now we will have to wait a year extra to drive the Apple Electric car.

Why Is Apple Postponing Its Electric Car Launch To 2026?

A major design overhaul and the addition of features is said to be the primary reason for the delay in the launch of the Apple electric car. Previously, the brand had the vision to build an autonomous car with full self-driving capabilities. The Apple Electric car with self-driving features could be a possibility in the future but not for now.

Also, the previous prototype design was based on a limousine style with the passengers seating face to face and no steering control since it was being developed as a fully autonomous car. However, the brand will now be shifting back to the traditional car design and will add a driver’s seat, steering wheel, and also pedals for acceleration and braking.

Apple will be adding the self-driving mode but that will be specific for highways. This driving mode will allow users to ride hands-free and watch videos or play games on-the-go. Furthermore, online reports suggests the Apple Car will be launched with the self-driving mode initially in North America and will be later made available in other markets as well.

When Is Apple Electric Car Launching Globally And How Much It Will Cost?

The Apple Electric Car will be launching in 2026 at around $100,000 (approx. Rs. 81,53,449). This is a reduced cost. Previously, Apple estimated around $120,000 cost for its electric car. But since it’s cutting down on the technologies and the fully autonomous concept, the pricing will get cheaper.
