Simple One Electric Scooter Deliveries Postponed Yet Again : 2023 It Is!

  • Bookings had open up on 15th August 2021
  • Multiple delays have occurred in the past
  • Saving grace is the performance and battery range – but all this is claimed as of now

It was on the 15th of August 2021 when I went ahead and booked the Simple One e-scooter on their website. Team member Bunny Punia was among the first few ones to do so and as of today, it has been 427 days but no concrete answer on the delivery timeline. The latest email issued from Simple Energy states the deliveries will now happen next year. Although the company hasn’t given a precise date or month, the Simple One electric scooter will now be delivered to its customers in Q1 2023. The delivery timeline have now been changed three times: initially for June 2022, then for September 2022, and finally for Q1 2023.

Simple One Delivery Delay

According to the brand, Simple Energy will comply with and adhere to the new standards, thus the delay is due to the recent battery safety rules given by MoRTH. The latest battery safety rules released must be commended because safety has become the top priority in electric vehicles and the business. The company had anticipated a new framework to be announced in light of the recent events in the EV industry. But we don’t see this new rule changing the delivery schedule of other e-scooters in India. Example, the newly launched Hero Vida V1.

Speaking on this announcement, Suhas Rajkumar, Founder & CEO, of Simple Energy, said, “Adhering to the new battery safety guidelines issued by the government, Simple has taken a call to defer the deliveries of Simple One to thus ensure that our vehicles are certified as per new standards. Safety has been our priority since the beginning. The scooters delivered will be the best in class scooters that are safe, and futuristic. We appreciate the patience and the love that the customers have showered on us. We look forward to a remarkable journey ahead.”

Simple One scooter’s revised variant has a 3.2 kWh fixed battery pack and two 1.6 kWh removable modules instead of the standard model’s 3.2 kWh fixed battery pack and 1.6 kWh removable module, which is rated for 236 km per charge.

The Simple One electric scooter costs Rs 1,09,999 (ex-showroom) for the basic model, which has a real-world range of 203 km (up to 236 km in perfect conditions), and Rs 1,44,999 (ex-showroom) for the long-range version, which has a real-world range of over 300 km in ideal conditions with a second battery pack. It is available for pre-order on www.simpleenergy.in for Rs 1,947.

Verdict: Customers have been waiting for their electric scooters to arrive since Simple Energy began taking reservations in August 2021. It will now take place in Q1 2023, 1.5 years after its introduction. Some customers may switch to other brands as a result of the delay.

Hero Vida V1 Electric Scooter Buyers Can Use Ather’s Fast Charging Grid Network

  • Hero will use Ather’s fast-charging network for Vida V1 e-scooter
  • New charging stations are being set up with BPCL as well
  • V1 has the fastest charging rate of up to 1.2km/min in the segment

Hero Motocorp has made a grand entry into the premium EV two-wheeler segment in India. The Hero Vida V1 e-scooter has taken its rivals ablaze, even if at a small premium in terms of pricing. But, to keep the fire burning, Hero knows that after-sales support is the key game here. Hence, Hero is going to use Ather’s fast-charging network for its Vida V1 charging. Why? Incase you did not know, this is because Hero is one of the biggest stakeholders in Ather Electric. Hence, the tie-up is nothing short of using its own resources for better sales.

We’ve already put it to its paces at the Hero’s test track in Jaipur. Our detailed ride review will be out soon on 91Wheels. Before that happens, you can also have a look at the V1 in our detailed walkaround video below.

Hero Vida V1 Electric Charging Details

As per the data, Ather currently has 65 fast charging stations across the country. More details on this can be had on Ather’s website. Using these will be a very brilliant idea as the new customers will instantly get charging options for the V1. Hero had already cleared its intentions that it will make sure that its e-scooter Vida is ready to use in a good ecosystem once launched. Hence, the use of Ather’s DC charging stations is going to help its customers a lot. Additionally, the company is also setting up fast charging stations with BPCL. This joint venture will allow the customers more freedom to use the V1 tension free and will also kick range anxiety out of the picture.

Vida V1 owners will be able to use Ather’s grid

Currently, the Vida is among the fastest-charging scooter in India. It gets charged up to 1.2km/min. The Ather 450X Gen3 stands first with 1.5km/min. Hence, the fast charging has led to a claimed 0-80 percent charge within 65 minutes via the DC fast charging option. Additionally, the network of Ather is already widespread and is consistently spreading more pan India. This will eventually push Vida sales even more because its customers will be able to get more charging options.

Verdict

Hero Vida has a lot to promise to its customers & with the use of Ather’s network and support; Vida can surely be a segment leader. Additionally, the swappable batteries are another boon to this segment of buyers. But, with rivals like Ola S1 Pro, Bajaj Chetak, & TVS iQube already on sale and well-established, Hero will have to work overtime in establishing itself profoundly.

According to the company, it will officially launch the new update this Diwali festival. It means that the scooter will become more high-tech than ever and this follows the recent OS2 updates.

Ola Move OS 3.0 Details

Ola S1 Pro will be updated with the new OS3 infotainment software. This software has already been tested and showcased on social media by the CEO Bhavesh Aggrawal himself. Meanwhile, this new update will increase the fun factor exponentially in the S1. How? Well, it will include the updates like hill hold, hypercharge, themes, moods, proximity locks, calling, key sharing, regen braking two, etc.

These updates will make it even more desirable than ever. To keep the customers excited, Ola is also offering a Rs 10,000 discount on the Pro variant. This discount offer is going on until the upcoming Diwali festival. However, Ola has additional plans to introduce a new scooter.

This can possibly be a new variant that will undercut the Pro variant. In terms of pricing, the Pro costs Rs 1,39,000 (after the discount, inclusive of FAM-II subsidy). However, a new scooter from Ola will make the company more accessible among budget-oriented buyers.

Also Read: Ola Electric Motorcycle Confirmed by CEO Bhavish Aggarwal : Details

The Pro comes equipped with a bigger battery pack. This helps in making it attain a 181 km per charge riding range. It is the highest in its segment. Additionally, the scooter supports fast charging via which it can charge up to 75 km in just 18 minutes.

Verdict

As the rivals like the Ather 450X Gen 3, Bajaj Chetak, TVS iQube, etc. keep on updating themselves, the OS3 update was much needed. However, considering the lack of moral support for its customers and consistent complaints, Ola needs to work hard on its network. With that said, the new update is only going to make the scooter more exciting to own.

Hero Vida V1 Pro & Plus Launched : Price & More Details Here

Hero Motocorp has finally launched its first electric offering, the Vida V1. We were at the company’s CIT facility outside of Jaipur and while we ride the scooter tomorrow, here is a quick look at what all we know so far. The Vida brand name will get more products under its belt in the years to come. Continue to read below if you want to understand the pricing, specs, features and colour options

Hero Vida V1 price

This new electric scooter is available in two versions of V1 Pro and V1 Plus. While the Plus carries a sticker price of Rs 1.45 lakh, the Pro is priced at Rs 1.69 lakh. As we understand from Hero’s communication, these prices include the FAME subsidies but not the state level subsidy. Hence, Hero’s offering turns out to be one of the most expensive in the segment.

Hero Vida V1 specs

The Vida e-scooter is powered by an electric motor that can generate a peak power output of 8 bhp. Maximum torque however has not been disclosed yet. While the V1 Plus gets a 3.44 kWh battery pack, the more expensive V1 Pro gets a larger 3.94 kWh unit. This is also the reason why the Pro has a higher certified range of 165km as compared to 143km on the Plus. Hero claims both the versions will hit a top speed of 80km/h and the 0-60 km run on the Pro takes 3.4 seconds. On the Plus, this is down to only 3.2 seconds.

Hero Vida V1 features

The scooters come with LED lights all around. They also get a 7″ TFT touch screen. The connected app features include anti-theft alarm, track by bike, geo fencing, vehicle diagnostics etc. There is a cruise control set-up, keyless start, navigation, follow me home lights etc. The Vida V1 also gets reverse mode to get out of tight parking situations. Lastly, it also offers removable battery set-up.

Hero Vida V1 Colours

As the launch, we saw as many as five different colours on offer. These are visible above. You can pick from red-black, cyan-black, all black, white-black and orange-black. At this point of time, we aren’t aware if both the Pro and Plus will get all these five colour options or not.

Other details

The scooter also comes with a buy back scheme. The vehicle warranty stands at 5 yrs or 50,000. The battery however has a lower warranty of just 3 yrs or 30,000km. Deliveries will start in the first week of December but for now, the scooter will only be available in Delhi, Jaipur and Bangalore!

TVS iQube ST : Here Is What You Need To Know

Earlier this year, TVS had opened up bookings for a longer range version of the iQube electric scooter. While bookings are now closed, the company has not revealed the official prices yet. Likewise, we do not have any information on the delivery schedule. However, we do have access to changes made in this new model, the iQube ST. It will be the flagship e-scooter from TVS and will rub shoulders with options like the new updated Ather 450X, the Ola S1 Pro and the upcoming Simple One.

Bigger Battery

TVS already sells the iQube in standard and S versions. As compared to these two, the ST gets a bigger battery pack of 4.56 kWh. This is 50% larger as compared to the standard and S versions, thereby giving a longer riding range. TVS claims that the iQube ST will go as much as 145km in economy mode and 110km in power mode. For the other two lower models, the range is limited to 100km and 75km in economy and power modes respectively. While the acceleration of all versions is same, the top speed of the ST model is 82 km/h, slightly higher than 78 km/h on the lower two models

Other changes

The bigger battery also means the iQube ST weighs in at 128 kg and is about 10 kilos heavier than the lower models. Apart from that, TVS also offers a more powerful charger that allows you to charge the bigger battery from 0 to 80% in just 2 hrs and 30 mins via a 1500w unit. The ST will also get a unique Coral Sand Glossy colour as seen below.

Standard features

The ST version carries over all the features of the S model. This means you will get IP67 rated battery, LED lights all around, a 17.78cm touch-screen display, Bluetooth connectivity and OTA or over the air updates. Telematics include geo fencing, antitheft alert and live location status. The screen also offers features like navigation, incoming call alert et al. As expected, there is also a USB charger for your mobiles.

iQube ST Pricing

TVS has not revealed pricing for the top end ST version. At the same time, post subsidies, the standard versions sells at Rs 99,130 and the S version carries a price tag of Rs 1,04,123 – these prices are for Delhi. For the bigger battery ST model, we expect a premium of about Rs 25-30k, thereby taking the price to around Rs 1.3 lakh. Given the features including connectivity and touch-screen, and the reliable TVS brand name, the ST will still be good value for money.

Tata Tiago EV vs Tata Tigor EV || Sibling Rivalry || Electric Hatch or Electric Sedan?

Tata Motors is on a mission to expand its range of personal electric vehicles. The company has established a special subsidiary dubbed “Tata Passenger Electric Mobility” to make EVs more accessible to the general public. The brand wants to create personal electric vehicles for every market group under this branch. Tata Motors has already established its position in the personal electric mobility market with the Nexon EV before introducing the Tigor EV and most recently, the Tiago EV. This latest launch has ensured that Indians now have access to a sub 10 lakh rupee electric car, the Tiago EV. Yes, it is largely based on the Tigor EV but sees a far more lower entry cost point. So which one should you consider? The value based electric hatchback or the practical electric sedan?

Tata Tiago EV Vs Tigor EV – Dimensions

Since the Tiago EV is a hatchback and the Tigor EV is a compact sedan, they each serve distinct car segments. But first, let’s look at the table to see how the various dimensions differ.

DimensionsTata Tiago EVTata Tigor EV
Length3,769 mm3,993 mm
Width1,677 mm1,677 mm
Height1,536 mm1,532 mm
Wheelbase2,400 mm2,450 mm

As you can see above, while both the cars have an identical width, the Tigor EV, being a sedan, is longer by 224mm. This is mostly got to do with the addition of the boot. In terms of height, the Tiago is 4mm longer. The longer wheelbase of the Tigor EV also liberates more passenger room on the inside. Both the cars get a solid piece grille, EV badging and smart looking wheel caps.

Tata Tiago EV Vs Tata Tigor EV – Powertrain & Battery Pack

When EVs are concerned their powertrain is the main thing. Both the EVs from Tata Motors use the same Ziptron technology but boast different specifications. To keep the pricing low, the Tiago EV comes with an optional smaller battery pack as seen below.

SpecificationsTata Tiago EVTata Tigor EV
Battery Pack19.2 kWh/24 kWh26 kWh
Power60 bhp/74 bhp74 bhp
Torque110 Nm/114 Nm170 Nm
Claimed Range250 km/ 315 km (MIDC)306 km (ARAI)
Charging TimeUp to 6.4 hrs with 3.3 kW home charger
Up to 3.6 hrs with 7.2 kW AC fast charger
10-80% in 57 minutes with 25kW DC fast charger
0%-80% in 8 hours 45 minutes from 15A plug point
0%-80% in 65 minutes from any 25 kW DC charger

As we told you above, two alternative battery packs are included with the Tiago EV to make it more accessible to more people. Additionally, because the battery packs in the Tiago EV are smaller than those in the Tigor EV, the Tiago EV charges faster than the Tigor EV. In terms of range, the Tiago EV has a longer range on paper, however, it is MIDC range rather than ARAI, thus the range in real life may differ. Both EVs comes with a 8 Year/ 1,60,000 km (whichever is earlier) battery warranty.
The smaller battery version also has a lower power output. While the certified range isn’t out yet, the 24 kWh Tiago might end up giving a longer range than the 26 kWh Tigor version. This is down to the fact that max torque is limited to 114 Nm in the Tiago EV as compared to 170 Nm on the Tigor. So yes, overall performance will also be a less in the Tiago EV (even in the bigger battery pack version).

Starting at Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom), a 24 kWh battery pack costs up to Rs 11.79 lakh (ex-showroom). The initial 10,000 units are only are eligible for these prices.

In contrast, the Tigor EV is offered in XE, XM, XZ+, and XZ+ DT trims. Price ranges from Rs. 12.49 lakh (ex-showroom) to Rs. 13.64 lakh (ex-showroom).
