Google Warning For Samsung Galaxy, Pixel, Vivo Users: What Is The New Security Threat?

The security research team at Google called Project Zero has reportedly identified as many as 18 new vulnerabilities that can give hackers a control over a user’s device. What’s alarming is that the user remains unaware of their device hack. These critical security flaws are said to be affecting multiple Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel users. A bunch Vivo phones are also reported to be affected by this major security flaw.

As per Project Zero’s researchers, these bugs can allow any attacker to compromise the device security by just using the victims mobile number. Reports further suggests that these attacks can be carried silently using a malicious mobile network to install malwares on the hacked devices.

Tim Willis, Project Zero-head, these critical security flaws were initially discovered towards the end of 2022 and early 2023. Out of the eighteen flaws, four vulnerabilities are said to be more critical than the rest. Also, the serious vulnerability threats have been assigned CVE (Common Vulnerability and Exposures) number. Some of them are CVE-2023-26072, CVE-2023-26073, CVE-2023-26074, CVE-2023-26075, and CVE-2023-26076.

List Of Samsung Devices Affected With These Critical Security Flaws

Project Zero has revealed the list of smartphone models that are affected with these 18 vulnerabilities. Samsung phones primarily the ones running on an Exynos processor can be exploited using these security vulnerabilities. The list of Galaxy phone affected are mentioned below:

  • Galaxy A series- Samsung Galaxy A04 series, Galaxy A12, Galaxy A13, Galaxy A33, Galaxy A53, Galaxy A71
  • Galaxy M series- Galaxy M12, Galaxy M13, Galaxy M33
  • Galaxy S Series- Galaxy S22
