The iQOO Neo 6 is one of the most well-equipped devices in its segment. But we have seen several new Android smartphones that are well-loaded in terms of hardware. We have received the Neo 6 for review at Giznext and have been fiddling with it for a while. How did the handset perform in the initial testing? Well, we have broken down the pointers in this iQOO Neo 6 5G’s first impressions article. Read on to know:
iQOO Neo 6 5G Quick Review: Design And Display
At the first look, you’ll find the Neo 6 5G’s design familiar to the iQOO 7. The Neo 6 also wears the same polycarbonate back panel which is iridescent and offers a matte texture on top. The device has been announced in dual shades including Cyber Rage and Nova Black. We received the former color variant which is almost identical to the iQOO 7 as stated above.
The square-shaped camera module is what primarily distinguishes the design from the previous-gen models. The glass camera module itself adds to the appeal with its dual-tone paint job including the Neo badging. The volume keys along with the power key are placed on the left panel, while the left panel is barren.
The bottom panel is a storehouse for the USB Type-C port sandwiched between the speaker grille and the hybrid SIM slot. The front panel is also hard to distinguish from the previous-generation models. The tall frame is complemented with slim borders and a tiny punch-hole camera cutout for selfies and video calling.
iQOO has used a massive 6.62-inch screen on the Neo 6 5G. The panel used is E4 AMOLED which delivers a screen resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and a 100 percent DCI-P3 color gamut along with a 91.4 percent screen-to-body ratio. As is the case with most of the premium mid-range iQOO phones, the Neo 6’s panel is also impressive with color production. It is a vibrant panel that justifies the content played on it.
Besides, our initial testing has given impressive results with gaming as well. The E4 AMOLED panel is crisp in all scenarios. That has been our experience from the moment we unboxed this unit. With the large display profile, the overall viewing experience is enhanced. Of course, the FHD+ screen resolution and 120Hz refresh rate play a vital role in the same. Our experience with the iQOO Neo 6’s display has also been decent in outdoor situations. With a peak brightness level of 1300 nits, the panel gets sufficiently bright under direct sunlight.
iQOO Neo 6 5G: Chipset, UI Experience
The iQOO Neo 6 competes against other recent premium mid-range phones with the Snapdragon 870 chipset. iQOO has used this flagship octa-core Qualcomm chipset on a bunch of its smartphones. The iQOO 7 is one of the popular examples of the same. Power delivery is ample on the Neo 6 5G. That has been our initial experience.
We have currently tested the iQOO Neo 6 with basic to moderate tasks and the performance have been lag-free all this while. The Neo 6’s SD 870 chipset employs Adreno 650 GPU to handle the heavy graphics and up to 12GB RAM for multitasking. Notably, the device also comes with an 8GB RAM option which is clubbed with 128GB storage, while the 12GB RAM model gets 256GB storage support.
Even the base model has a high 8GB RAM option which allows for fair performance delivery. The handset further supports a virtual RAM feature that will supplement an additional 4GB of RAM. This further helps with smooth multitasking despite several apps running in the background. Even with gaming, the Neo 6 has performed well in the initial stages. However, we will be giving detailed feedback will be coming in a few weeks.
