MG Motors is in the headlines for its upcoming affordable compact electric car called Comet EV. The online rumors have been suggesting an imminent launch in the Indian market. Now, MG has officially announced the Comet EV’s India launch date and has also showcased the interiors of its new-generation budget electric car. Below are the details:
MG Comet EV India Launch: This Is The Official Date
The MG Comet EV is set to debut on April 19, 2023 in India. As mentioned above, the upcoming budget three-door hatchback electric car’s launch has been confirmed by MG itself. The official teaser shared by the brand showcases the Comet EV’s interior. The dashboard can be seen with large dual-screen digital instrument cluster. The steering mounting seems two-spoke which will integrate iPod-inspired controls.
MG has not revealed much besides the official launch date or the dashboard/steering design. The pricing details are also under the wraps as of now. But if we consider the leaks, the MG Comet EV will be the brand’s cheapest yet electric car in the Indian market. The price range tipped is under Rs. 10 lakh.
Whether or not it will be cheaper compared to the Tata Tiago EV remains to be seen. MG is also rumored to launch the Comet EV in multiple variants where the pricing would vary depending on the set of features.

The MG Comet EV’s past leaks and rumors suggests an identical platform as the Wuling AirEV available globally. The three-door electric hatchback is said to come with 20kWh battery pack based on skateboard platform. This new affordable MG electric car is said to offer a range of up to 300 km per charge. Some reports also hints that MG could source Comet Ev’s battery module for Tata AutoComp.
The dimensions of Comet EV is said to be 2,974mm (length), 1,631mm (height), and 1,505mm (width). The set of features that the Comet EV is expected to offer includes keyless entry, multiple drive modes, hill-start mode, and electric parking-brake assist feature. The MG Comet EV is also speculated to come with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support in addition to voice commands feature.
