After taking up all the headlines for its first e-motorcycle series, Roadster, Ola Electric just teased a new e-scooter platform. The E2W manufacturer has apparently started developing the successor to the Gen 2 Platform which suggests Ola’s all set to take a new leap in the EV segment. Ola Gen 3 Platform: Improvements And Enhancements
Ola Electric has teased its new e-scooter platform called Gen 3. The upcoming platform which is being developed for the future Ola e-scooters including commuter, touring, and sporty models. Ola is focusing on multiple factors while developing the new platform for its e-scooters.
From better battery cells to improved motor pack and electronics, the Ola Gen 3 will be a high-performance setup for the future E2Ws. The powertrain setup is said to become more compact yet efficient by utilizing an integrated “Inside the Box” setup combining motor, battery, and electronics.
The Ola Gen 3 Platform will be doing away with the existing 2170 battery cell setup and replace it with new 4689 li-Ion cell packs. The new battery pack being larger in diameter will be capable of storing extra juice for longer range delivery. Also, the newer battery module with higher energy density will also have improved thermal efficiency making them more secure.
Additionally, the Ola Gen 3 platform will come sans the permanent magnet motors and rather feature magnetized electrical coils. This magnetless motor setup is said to offer improved torque figures which essentially means better powertrain overall.
As for the electronics, the Gen 3 Platform will be combining BMS (Battery Management System) and MCU (Motor Control Unit) with a single high-performance multi-core processor. The primary ECU compartment (CCU) board is said to be compatible with advanced safety features such as ADAS.

Ola E-Scooter Models Expected With Gen 3 Platform
Ola has just teased the Gen 3 Platform as of now and is yet to announce the list of models that will feature the new e-scooter platform. Rumors have already started indicating at the Ola S2 and Ola S3 series’ launch equipped with the Gen 3 Platform. However, unless there is some confirmation from the company we would suggest you to take this information as a grain of salt.
