Realme has finally become the second-largest smartphone player in India. The company has managed to achieve an 18 percent market share in October this year, due to its vast lineup of 5G devices as per the Counterpoint research new report.
“2021 has been a year of milestones for Realme and this win is another feather in our hat. With our ‘Dare to Leap’ spirit and individuality, we will continue to challenge the existing status quo and prove leadership time and again,” said Madhav Sheth, CEO of Realme India, VP of Realme, and President of Realme International Business Group.
“Our aim for 2022 is to be the No. 1 smartphone brand in India, and this milestone is just another stepping stone to realise that vision,” Sheth added. It is worth noting that most of the smartphones are selling via online channels and Flipkart.
Realme also said that it has become the number one brand on Flipkart as it has close to 52 percent market share, whereas overall online sales get 27 percent market share, which makes Realme the top two smartphone brands.
Xiaomi Becomes No.1 Smartphone Brand
On the other hand, Chinese smartphone brand Xiaomi gets 20 percent share during the same month, including shares of the Poco. While Samsung managed to get 16 percent share and Vivo gets 13 percent market share.
According to the report, Xiaomi is leading shipments in the country. The company has managed to get a 22 percent share, whereas Samsung has a 19 percent share. Realme has only a 14 percent share in the same segment due to its budget C-series.
This clearly shows that Realme is getting closer to Xiaomi. In fact, both companies are very aggressive on Twitter. “This rapid growth is a testament to the brand and evidence of our consumers’ love for us,” said Sheth.
Realme Shipments In India
The smartphone has recently announced that it has achieved 100 million cumulative shipments since its inception. It is also important to note that Realme 8s 5G is leading the sector. In addition, the company has sold 9,3 million units of products like AIoT and Techlife products. Realme achieved 40 percent year-on-year growth in the same products.
