Reliance Jio is likely to launch a laptop with a 4G sim card at $184 (Rs. 15,000), which means that the laptop will be priced under the affordable segment according to the report published via Reuters. Notably, Reliance Jio joined hands with Qualcomm and Microsoft for the upcoming laptop JioBook.

It is worth noting that Reliance Jio has not made any announcement on the same yet. But, the report claims that the laptop will be available for schools, enterprise customers, and government institutes by the end of this month, while a proper launch will take place by the end of this year.
In addition, the company is planning to bring its first 5G smartphone to the country. “This will be as big as JioPhone,” sources were quoted by Reuters.
For the unaware, the company has joined hands with two companies called Qualcomm and Microsoft. This means the laptop will be powered by a Snapdragon processor. In addition, the demo of the upcoming laptop at the Indian Mobile Congress confirmed that it will have Snapdragon 665 processor.
Additionally, the report claims that the JioBook will be manufactured locally along with Flex. Plus, the report states that the company wants to sell “hundreds of thousands” units of the laptop by the end of March next year.
PC Shipments In India: Details
According to research firm IDC, PC shipments has been stood at 14.8 million units in 2021 as Dell, Lenovo, and HP are leading the segment. Meanwhile, Tarun Pathak analyst at Counterpoint said that the JioBook is expected to address the laptop market by 15 percent.
Furthermore, the laptop will run JioOS operating system, whereas apps can be downloaded from the JioStore. It is important to note that Reliance Jio is promoting the laptop over the tablet launched by the Chinese smartphone maker in India, which is why it might be priced under Rs. 20,000.
