Xiaomi is trying to set its niche with high-speed sports EVs and after the successful launch of its SU7 series, it is all set to rattle up the premium segment with its fastest and quickest EV model. The brand has just taken the wraps of the SU7 Ultra variant which comes with powerful motor packs that produces an output higher than some of the top high-speed cars in the market. The future-ready sports EV’s has been showcased as a prototype and could soon become a reality in the market.

Xiaomi SU7 Ultra EV Powertrain: Here’s What Makes It Special

The Xiaomi SU7 is the most powerful variant in the entire SU7 series. The prototype showcased during the Lui Jun Annual Speech event is loaded with Xiaomi’s self developed V6s and V8s motor packs. With this motor setup, the SU7 Ultra dominates the sports car segment by deliver the maximum output of 1548 hp which is more than the Bugatti Chirron and other premium sports cars. The SU7 Ultra can deliver a max torque of 635 Nm (V8s engine).

Xiaomi seems to have built the quickest EV in the market. The SU7 Ultra can accelerate from 0- 100 kmph within 1.97 and 0-300km/h in 15.07 seconds. As for its top speed, that’s up to 350 kmph max. Battery pack is all advanced too. The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is equipped with the CATL’s Qilin 2.0 battery pack which offers up to 1330 kW of output. This battery pack is claimed to take a full charge of 0- 100 percent in less than 12 minutes.

The iron phosphate (LFP) used by the Qilin battery that is compatible with 897V battery. Not just the hardware, Xiaomi has also strategically handled its designing too. The SU7 Ultra gets an aerodynamically-enhanced design combined with carbon fibre construction that makes the car weigh at just 1900 kg.

Xiaomi SU7 Ultra EV Availability?

The SU7 Ultra prototype has an impressive braking system which can decelerate the car from 100–0km/h (62.13–0mph) in 25m (82.02ft). Lei Jun also announced the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra will race the Nürburgring Nordschleife track twice — in October with the prototype and in 2025 with the production car.

Xiaomi SU7 EV is currently showcased in a prototype form and is yet to be made available commercially to the consumers. However, the brand plans to drop this sports EV’s production-ready unit to the race track by 2025. We might get some developments related to its availability then.
