The Motorola Edge 20 is slim, which most other Motorola phones are not. At 7mm thick, it's not just thin, but positively skinny. This is quite a departure, given that most budget Motorola phones were more than 9mm thick. As a result, with its supplied silicone jacket on, the Motorola Edge 20 feels about as thick as some other phones without a case.
Motorola Edge 20 comes already dressed in its case. In that sense, the Motorola Edge 20 receives a design upgrade, but it doesn't feel noticeably more premium than Motorola's G-series budget phones. Its back is made of plastic and has a plastic-like feel to it.
But if every other source on the internet hadn't told us otherwise, we'd have assumed they were made of plastic. Motorola has covered these sides in some sort of paint or resin, so there's none of the classic cool-to-the-touch hardness of aluminum here. Aside from display glass, which is Gorilla Glass 3, it feels like a plastic phone. We're fortunate to have this because many lower-end Motorola's now use an unspecified, presumably cheaper, type of toughened glass. However, Gorilla Glass 3 is now quite old, and for just a little more money, you can now get a Xiaomi 11T, which uses far superior Gorilla Glass Victus.
Summary
The Motorola Edge 20 has three cameras on the back. A 108MP primary camera, a 16MP ultra-wide camera, and an 8MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom are included. This last one is a real standout. A'real' zoom camera will usually cost you a little more. Even the Google Pixel 6, for example, lacks one.
However, focusing on getting fewer things right can sometimes be more effective. None of these sensors are particularly sophisticated. The 108MP sensor is a Samsung HM2, the company's lower-end 108MP sensor, with a smaller light-gathering area than either the HM3 (used in the brilliant Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra) or the HMX, which can be found in the Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro. All of the other camera sensors, including the 32MP selfie camera, are powered by OmniVision hardware, which is relatively inexpensive. So, is breadth preferable to depth?
Despite the high stated sensor resolution, the 3x provides significantly more close-up detail than a crop of the 108MP camera. Although it appears to be optically stabilized, we discovered that you must hold the Edge 20 very still to avoid soft or, more often, fuzzy-looking detail.Zoom shots will never look amazing due to the low sensor quality, but in good lighting, you can get some Instagram-worthy shots.
Summary
The screen on the Motorola Edge 20 is far less of a mixed bag. It has a 6.7-inch OLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400. This is as sharp as you can get for the price, and the large surface area makes it ideal for YouTube videos.
Even at the opposite end of the spectrum, the Motorola Edge 20 performs admirably. This phone was primarily tested in November in London, amid storms and a lot of greyness. However, there were a few days with bright sunlight, and the Edge 20 performed admirably for a phone of this price. We're not talking about the 1000+ nits of an iPhone screen here, but we haven't seen an OLED that is significantly brighter for the price.

The Motorola Edge 20 is set to Saturated color mode right out of the box. This has a lot of vibrant reds and greens, which were a little too much. Trust your instincts, but we prefer the more subdued Natural mode, which has a warmer color temperature.
Summary
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G chipset powers the Motorola Edge 20. It has been used in a number of phones, including the Honor 60, the Samsung Galaxy M52 5G (released in India), and the Galaxy A52s. The fact that Samsung uses the same processor in a similarly priced phone indicates that we're getting a good deal at best. In terms of price-to-performance, it's no Realme GT.
However, the Edge 20 does not appear to be a phone designed specifically for gaming. It lacks stereo speakers and a large battery, but the fact that we haven't noticed any performance issues suggests that the Snapdragon 778G is a perfect fit. Geekbench 5 gives the Motorola Edge 20 a score of 2,745 points. This is just a few hundred points lower than the Snapdragon 888. Its graphics performance, however, is half that of Qualcomm's high-end CPU, resulting in a 3D Mark Wild Life score of 2,502. (a Snapdragon 888 phone might score 5,300).
The sub-Rs. 30,000 smartphone market is becoming increasingly crowded, with 5G smartphones from nearly every major manufacturer. Motorola has entered this market with the Edge 20, which features a powerful Snapdragon 778G processor. This phone is primarily designed for looks, and it is slim and light, but its battery requires frequent charging.
