The Redmi A1 has a height of 164.9mm and a width of 76.8mm. It flaunts a stylish leather texture design at the back and has a thickness of 9.1mm and weighs 192g. The smartphone comes in three colors Light Blue, Black and Light Green.The Redmi A1 features a 6.52-inch screen which is an IPS LCD panel. It has a resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels and a pixel density of 269 PPI which ensures a decent visual experience. It has a screen-to-body ratio of 88.89 %. It also has a 120Hz touch sampling rate and a standard 60hz refresh rate. With 400 nits peak brightness levels the sunlight visibility is also decent.

The Redmi A1 is powered by the MediaTek MT6761 Helio A22 chipset which provides clock speeds up to 2.0 GHz. The smartphone is available with up to 2GB RAM & 3GB RAM with 32GB internal storage. It has expandable storage of up to 512GB via a dedicated microSD card. The Redmi A1 Plus operates on MIUI 12 based on Android 12 Go Edition. In terms of connectivity, the smartphone offers support for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v5.0, USB 2.0, GPS, and FM. It also includes a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The Redmi A1 has a 5MP front camera for selfies. At the rear, it features an 8MP primary camera with a 0.08MP secondary camera with autofocus and has a caliber of capturing vivid and lively shots in broad daylight. In terms of its photographic features, the smartphone comprises HDR and beautification modes. It shoots video at 1080p at 30fps.
