Our modern day lifestyle is difficult to imagine without cars. The automobile industry has evolved drastically offering more than just transportation with different sorts of vehicles. While the automobile industry is making a gradual shift towards electrification in an aim to achieve zero carbon emission, the available ICE vehicles are constantly getting laced with all sorts of advanced technologies. Google has also been shaping up Android to provide better services for cars and other vehicles.

At the CES 2024, Google has made some important announcements for Android Auto and cars with Google built-in services. With the new range of features and services, Google aims to deliver a more premium and safe, connected system. The latest updates from CES 2024 for Android Auto and cars are mentioned below:

Chrome Browser For Android Auto And Cars

One of the most important announcements that comes from Google related to Android auto is the addition of Google Chrome browser. Now, users will be able to access Google Chrome web browser for various tasks besides web surfing. Users will get the option to shop and also go through the saved bookmarks. The Chrome browser will be initially available in select Volvo and Polestar car models.

Weather Channel App

Google has also announced the much awaited Channel app. Now, Android Auto will be offering the Weather channel application that will allow the drivers to get idea of the weather condition during traveling. This app will also display the hourly weather forecast along with the changing weather conditions.

Battery/ Range Meter For EVs

The Android Auto now gets support to display EV battery stats. Moving forward, cars with Android Auto integrated will show the real-time battery information which will definitely help with killing any range anxiety. Users will be able to access this information from the Google Maps itself during commute.

This new feature will be made available initially to the Ford Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightening models soon. The remaining compatible vehicles will gradually receive this support in the coming months. Once this feature is enabled, rivers will get the option to see the remaining battery charge and also the estimated battery status on the arrival at the selected destinations. The list of available charging stations on the route will also be displayed. This will help the consumers with better planning of their long journeys.

Easy Trip Plan Using Android Auto For Cars

Google is also focusing on improving the trip planning experience with Android Auto. Besides the estimated range, Android Auto for cars will now allow sharing a trip route on Google Maps on any Android or iOS device that is connected with the car. Navigational services have been improved with the latest update.

Entertainment On The Go

Google is also improving the entertainment aspect with Android Auto for cars. Now, one would be able to access and watch different shows and movies on-the-go. Cars with the Google built-in services will offer access to a variety of shows from Cruncyroll and PBS kids to keep the passengers entertained throughout the travel or while the car is parked.
