BYD Seal EV Facelift Unveiled: New Design, Updated Architecture, More

BYD, the Chinese EV manufacturer has introduced the Seal EV facelift. The development comes within just a few months of the brand launching the outgoing model in India. The latest BYD Seal EV facelift model has been launched in the company’s home country China with an updated exterior design along with a new cabin layout, and advanced safety features.

BYD Seal EV Facelift Model: Here’s What’s New

The latest BYD Seal EV facelift model is launched with a fresh exterior design. The brand has made minimalistic changes with this electric sedan’s design. The primary differences between the outgoing and the new facelift model includes a new set of alloy wheels and a roof mounted lidar sensor. The latter is reportedly added in order to provide an improved adaptive cruise control. Also, this lidar sensor will help with better automated parking system. The rear panel of the Seal EV facelift incorporates a new red BYD logo which can be seen on the tailgate.

Speaking of the internal changes, the BYD Seal EV facelift model is now equipped with a dual tone dashboard with the material being leatherette. The overall color combo of tan and gray gives the cabin a premium and spacious ambience. The dashboard integrates a large infotainment system with the AC vents being placed below it.

Just to recap, the previous models have the infotainment screens housed on either sides of the infotainment display. The facelift version of the BYD Seal now comes with a new four-spoke steering wheel with a flat bottom.

BYD Seal EV Facelift: Any Updates In Powertrain?

The key difference in the powertrain between the Seal EV outgoing and facelift models is the use of the new and faster 800V architecture on the latter. BYD is marketing the new architecture for the Seal EV facelift model as e-Platform 3.0 Evo which will reportedly deliver faster charging speeds. With this new architecture, the Seal EV facelift can get a full charge within 25 minutes down from 37 minutes as taken by the previous-gen modes. Remaining powertrain of the Seal EV facelift model remains the same as the previous-gen model.
