Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) is gearing up to introduce a new electric two-wheeler in India. According to Atsushi Ogata, President, Managing Director, and CEO of Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India, the company plans to launch its upcoming electric two-wheeler product in March 2024. According to reports, the upcoming electric scooter will be a variant of the company’s well-known Activa model.

The new model is likely to feature a powerful electric motor and a swappable lithium-ion battery, enabling users to replace the battery easily. The scooter is also expected to come with advanced features like regenerative braking and a digital instrument console, and LED lighting.
In the long run, Honda aims to deploy its battery-swapping technology for its customers, enabling them to replace the battery in a matter of minutes at Honda’s battery-swapping stations. This will eliminate the need for customers to wait for their scooter’s battery to charge and enable them to get back on the road quickly. The Activa Electric is expected to to reach a top speed of around 50 km/h.

The design of the Activa Electric is expected to be similar to the current Activa models, with some minor changes to accommodate the new battery technology. The scooter is expected to be available in multiple color options and is likely to be priced competitively.
