MediaTek has announced the launch of the new Dimensity 1080 chipset for the 5G smartphone. The newly launched chipset is expected to provide better performance than Dimensity 920 chipset. However, the smartphone with the Dimensity 1080 processor will be launched, by the end by the end of this year.
“Continuing MediaTek‘s legacy of optimising power and performance, the ‘Dimensity 1080’ offers a full suite of advanced features that challenge expectations about what a 5G smartphone can do,” CH Chen, Deputy General Manager of Wireless Communications Business Unit at MediaTek, said in a statement.
“This new chipset is designed to further enhance many of the functions that made its predecessor great, including processing power, camera, and video quality, and time to market for manufacturers,” he added.

In addition, the newly launched chipset comes with an upgraded octa-core CPU along with two ARM Cortex A78 CPU along with Arm Cortex-A78 CPU cores, which is operating at up to 2.6GHz along with an Arm Mali-G68 GPU that claims to provide increased performance for gaming, browsing, and streaming.
On the optics front, the chipset supports a 200MP primary camera and offers super high-quality photos and videos. In addition, the chipset comes with a hardware-accelerated HDR video recording to process 4K resolution.
Moreover, the company said that it offers gaming enhancements along with seamless gaming connectivity, support sub-6GHz 5G networks, and Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, so that gamers will get a smooth gaming and uninterrupted experience.
It is worth noting that this chipset has been developed for affordable smartphones, which also means in the coming days you will see the same processor in Xiaomi, Infinix, Realme, Lava, Micromax, and other phones that keep launching phones in the same segment.
