The Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024 has begun, and Mercedes-Benz India has revealed its star attraction: the EQG, also known as the electric G-Wagon. This concept was first displayed at the 2021 Munich Motor Show, and the finalized version is set to make its global debut later this year. EQG Concept: Distinctive Design

While the overall shape remains unmistakably ‘G,’ the EQG showcases several electric vehicle-specific design changes. Notably, the illuminated blanked-off grille stands out for its unique look. Observant viewers will spot a sleek LED light running along the car’s profile, and the Maybach S-Class contributes its stylish alloys. The dual-tone silver and black paint scheme, along with a sleek roof rack featuring an LED light bar, add extra flair. At the rear, the spare wheel is replaced by a box for storing items and charging cables.

EQG Concept: Luxurious Interior

Inside the Mercedes-Benz EQG concept, the dashboard design closely resembles the standard G-Class SUV. The cabin, finished in an upscale light beige tone, exudes sophistication but might be prone to getting dirty. The dual integrated screens display EV-specific graphics, a feature shared with other electric Mercedes models.

EQG Concept: Technical Features

Detailed technical specifications for the Mercedes-Benz EQG concept are yet to be disclosed. However, Mercedes reveals that it boasts four motors powering each wheel and a two-speed gearbox for tackling challenging off-road terrain. The EQG, designed for off-roading adventures, adopts a body-on-frame chassis suitable for tough terrains. One standout feature is its ability to spin around in the same spot.

India Arrival Confirmed

Mercedes-Benz confirms that the production-ready EQG will be available in India after its international launch. The global unveiling is expected later this year, with the Indian market likely to see it around 2025. Once launched, it will compete with the upcoming Jeep Wrangler EV, currently in development.
