MG has announced the upcoming Comet EV launch in the Indian market. However, the brand has kept the launch date details under wraps. We only know the imminent launch that might happen within the next few months.
The MG Comet EV will be catering to the budget segment of consumers and could possibly be one of the cheapest electric cars in the Indian market. Speaking of the pricing details, the company is likely to sell the Comet EV within Rs. 10 to Rs. 13 lakh price range. As of now, the Tata Tiago EV and the Citroen eC3 are available in this price bracket. The Comet EV will be going up against these two popular EVs following its official launch in the country.

The MG Comet EV is rumored to be built on the same platform as the Wuling Air EV which is available in the international markets. It will feature a compact and boxy design. MG has revealed that the Comet EV’s moniker is inspired by a 1934 British airplane that took part in the England-Australia MacRobertsan air race.
Not much is known related to the MG Comet EV’s powertrain and features. Going by the online reports, this new affordable electric car from MG will deliver around 300 km per charge range.
This compact electric car could use a 20-25kWh skateboard platform-based battery module. Furthermore, MG is said to source the battery of Comet EV from Tata AutoComp. However, this information is not confirmed by the company yet.
