HMD Global like other prime smartphone players has forayed into the tablet industry recently. The Finnish tech OEM has marked its debut in the mobile tablet space with affordable variants such as the Nokia T10 and the Nokia T20. The Nokia T21 is the company’s newest Android tablet that got announced this year in India. Priced under Rs. 20,000, the Nokia T21 has multiple rivals in the Indian market; some from other major smartphone giants such as Realme, OPPO, Lenovo, and Samsung.

If you already are planning to upgrade to a new budget Android tablet and the Nokia T21 is on your buying list, it would be better if you compare it with the other popular counterparts in this segment. The Moto Tab G62 and the Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 are the variants that can be purchased with a similar price range as the Nokia T21. Display specs offered by the Nokia T21 include a decently sized screen (10.4-inch) which delivers 1200 x 2000 pixels screen resolution. The screen size and panel type packed inside the Moto Tab G62 aren’t much different compared to the Nokia T21. The affordable Motorola tablet also features an IPS LCD screen with the same 1200 x 2000 pixels screen resolution.

It measures 10.6 inches in size and has a standard 16:10 aspect ratio.  The Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 closely follows these two tablets with a 10.5-inch TFT display that supports a lower 1200 x 1920 pixels resolution. Visual experience with all three tablets in this list is top notch. You wouldn’t need to compromise anyhow with video playback and also gaming.

The large screen size complemented by a high screen resolution will aid with the enhanced viewing experience. Out of these three tablets, the Nokia T21 and the Moto Tab G62 can outperform the TFT panel used by the Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 tablet.

Nokia T21 Vs Moto Tab G62 Vs Galaxy Tab A8: Camera Hardware Comparison

Imaging hardware is also similar on all three tablets mentioned in this list. The Nokia T21 is loaded with an 8MP main camera with an autofocus (AF) feature. This same size sensor is packed inside the Moto Tab G62 and the Galaxy Tab A8. The 8MP rear sensor is decent for basic photography. It can easily capture details when the background is well-lit. The 8MP main camera on all three tablets in this list can also record 1080p videos.

The Nokia T21 and the Moto Tab G62 are also identical in terms of selfie camera setup. Both these affordable tablets are packed with an 8MP selfie snapper. The same can be used for video calling or conferencing. The Galaxy Tab A8 has a smaller 5MP lens upfront to click self-portraits. Camera capabilities are good on all three tablets, but the Galaxy Tab A8 falls short in the selfie camera race against the remaining two models.

Nokia T21 Vs Moto Tab G62 Vs Galaxy Tab A8: Chipset, Battery Features

A Spreadtrum Unisoc series chipset is used by the Nokia T21 and the Moto Tab G62 for performance delivery, while a Qualcomm chipset powers the Galaxy Tab A8. The former employs the Unisoc Tiger T612 chipset under the hood, whereas, the latter features the Unisoc Tiger T618 chipset.

Both these budget Unisoc mobile chipsets are built on a 12nm process and have an octa-core CPU cluster. The Nokia T21 can be purchased with up to 4GB RAM and 128GB storage configuration and the Galaxy Tab A8 comes with up to 4GB RAM and 128GB storage option. The Motorola Tab G62 is a powerful variant driven by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 4G chipset.

The processing capabilities are better with the Moto Tab G62 including gaming and multitasking. The remaining two models, i.e., the Nokia T21 and the Galaxy Tab A8 will fit best for multimedia usage and general tasks.

Speaking of battery capacities, the Nokia T21 tablet uses an 8,200 mAh battery and the Moto Tab G62 has a 7,700 mAh battery size. Lastly, the Galaxy Tab A8 is powered by a smaller 7,040 mAh battery unit. Fast charging speeds are 18W and 20W with the Nokia T21 and the Moto Tab G62 respectively. The Samsung budget tablet ships with 15W fast charging support (lowest among the three).

Nokia T21 Vs Moto Tab G62 Vs Galaxy Tab A8: Final Verdict

The Nokia T21, Moto Tab G62, and Galaxy Tab A8 compete in the mid-range tablet segment priced under Rs. 20,000. The Nokia T21 comes with a starting price of Rs. 17,999, while the Moto Tab G62 can be purchased starting at Rs. 15,499 in the country.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 would cost you starting at Rs. 14,999 (for the base Wi-Fi only model) and Rs. 18,999 (for the base Wi-Fi+ LTE model). In our opinion, the Moto Tab G62 is the best variant due to its powerful processor as compared to the remaining two options (the Nokia T21 and the Moto Tab G62).
