Ola S1X E-Scooter PLI Certification: Details

Ola S1X which is one the top selling e-scooter models from the S1 series has been given the Production Linked Certificate. The S1X comes in dual options including a 3kWh and a 4kWh battery model both of which have received the PLI certification from the International Center for Automative Technology (ICAT). It is worth mentioning that the PLI certificate is only released by the Ministry of Heavy Industry when a two or four wheeler meets certain criteria.

For the S1X, Ola had to ensure that there is at least 50 percent of localization for its production. Since the company had complied with the rule, the S1X became eligible to receive the PLI certification. This is a significant achievement for Ola in the E2W segment which will eventually help the brand with a boost in production.

As a part of the PLI certification, Ola will be getting benefits and incentives for up to five years. Now, Ola will have to rely less on the import of raw materials to manufacturers its e-scooters post the PLI certification. With this, Ola will be able to strategically price its e-scooters increasing the competition in the E2W space.
