(Last Updated On: )

Realme Mobiles launched the new Realme 8 Series in India in March this year. Initially, only Realme 8 and the Realme 8 Pro was launched. However, in April 2021, the company even launched the Realme 8 5G and so the popular ‘number’ series of Realme now includes three smartphones. But, in this article, we will be sharing with you the Pros and Cons of the Realme 8 4G. Let’s have a look at all its positives and negatives.

Realme 8 4G Pros and Cons

PROS

Slim Design and Lightweight Body – The new Realme 8 4G has a slim design and it looks very stylish. The smartphone is available in two colour variants. They are – Cyber Black and Cyber Silver. The thickness of the smartphone has been rated at just 7.9 mm and it’s quite lightweight too and weighs just 177 grams.

Super AMOLED Display – The new Realme 8 gets an impressive 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution and 1000 nits of maximum brightness. It is a big upgrade from its predecessor as the Realme 7 used to get an IPS LCD panel.

Powerful Processor – The Realme 8 is powered by  the MediaTek Helio G95 chipset coupled with the Mali-G76 MC4 GPU. Though it is an old chipset, it is still a very good processor for mid-range smartphones and the chipset performs exceptionally well in the gaming department too.

Big Battery and Fast Charging – The new Realme 8 boasts a massive 5000mAh battery and it gets 30W DART fast charging. This combo of big battery and fast charging is one of the main USPs of the Realme 8.

Variants and Price – The Realme 8 was launched in India at a starting price of Rs 14,999 but recently, its price was slashed in India and now it is priced from Rs 14,499. Check out the detailed variant-wise prices:

Realme 8 4G Variant NameCurrent Price
4GB RAM + 128GB Internal StorageRs. 14,499
6GB RAM + 128GB Internal StorageRs. 15,499
8GB RAM + 128GB Internal StorageRs. 16,499

CONS

Plastic Back – Realme’s number series smartphones still get a polycarbonate panel at the back while some of the rivals offer premium glass-back design. Also, these plastic back panels are fingerprint magnet.

No High Refresh Rate System – The Realme 7 had an IPS LCD panel and it featured a 90 Hz high refresh rate system. The new Realme 8 has a superior Super AMOLED display but it misses out on a high refresh rate system and instead gets a conventional 60 Hz panel.

Downgraded Camera – The new Realme 8 sports a quad-camera set-up at the rear. It gets 64 MP + 8 MP + 2 MP + 2 MP sensors at the rear and a 16 MP selfie shooter at the front. While on paper the specs look similar to the Realme 7, the Realme 8’s primary sensor is manufactured by Omnivision and not Sony. Also, in real-life conditions, the camera performance of the Realme 7 feels slightly better than the Realme 8.

Additional Bloatware – Like most other budget and mid-range smartphones these days, the new Realme 8 gets a lot of third-party apps pre-installed and while some of them can be uninstalled, some can’t be done.

Quite Similar to Realme 7 – The last negative point about the new Realme 8 is that it is quite similar to the Realme 7 and doesn’t feel like a big update. Apart from the addition of a Super AMOLED display and some aesthetic changes, the new Realme 8 is completely identical to the Realme 7.
