Tata Electric Vehicles Launching With Battery Rental Plans?

As per the reports, Tata Motors is trying to follow the leads of MG Motors to take on the heated competition in the EV market. The automobile manufacturer is expected to introduce its popular EV fleet with battery rental services that will eventually cut down the asking price significantly. In addition to the Nexon EV, Tata is expected to extend the battery rental services for the remaining EV models including the most recent Curvv EV followed by the Punch EV, Tiago EV, and the Tigor EV.

Tata EVs BaaS Services Expected Costs

To recap, the existing Tata electric fleet is currently available with a starting price range of Rs. 7.99 lakh (ex showroom) and goes all the way up to Rs. 17.49 lakh (ex showroom). This includes the starting price range of the Tiago and the Curv EV with the Punch, Tigor, and the Tiago EV sitting in between.

Even if Tata comes up with the battery rental program for its EVs, it would be difficult to guess the additional costs that a customer will have to pay for the battery. Nevertheless, MG Motors is charging an amount of Rs. 3.5 km per kilometers for the battery rent. We can expect Tata to follow a strategic pricing to beat the competition effectively.
