Twitter Blue costs $8 per month

Twitter is all in the headlines ever since Elon Must took over its reigns. The microblogging platform earlier made rattles online with massive job layouts. Soon after, the scraping of the iconic Blue badge authentication feature which has been one of the start highlights of Twitter took everyone by surprise. Confirming all the rumors, Musk earlier announced the Official badge feature which is a paid service for official verification on Twitter.

But, seems like Musk wasn’t thorough with the strategies and realized the loopholes quite early in the pilot stage. A tweet by Musk now suggests this Official badge feature on Twitter being recalled within a week of its launch.

Twitter Official Badge Feature Won’t Cost You Any Money Now

Following its release this week, the Official badge feature on Twitter has been scraped. A tweet shared by Elon Musk stating “I just Killed it” confirms the removal of this new verification feature from Twitter. Now, one of the biggest queries has been why Twitter got rid of such a hyped paid official verification service within a week of its launch.

Well, the primary reason has been the confusion created among the users with the Official badge’s verification process and how will it differentiate prominent users’ profiles compared to general users who have paid to get the official authentication. It is worth mentioning that the Blue tick and the official badge have different functionalities.

Twitter executives have also shared tweets sharing details on how the Blue tick and the Official badge feature are different on the platform. But apparently, this didn’t clear the air of confusion amongst the masses. Blue ticks are associated with a simple subscription to Twitter Blue is one of the reasons. It was planned to be released with an $8 monthly subscription price.

A large segment of Twitter users also believes that the paid subscriptions could possibly be used by impersonators and scammers to be identified as prominent personalities. And since Twitter has not confirmed how it will complete the verification process with the Blue Tick and Official badge features, privacy, and authenticity concerns spiked. With all the backlash Musk had to roll back the Official badge feature in the pilot stage.
