Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Pro+ Vs OnePlus Nord CE 2: Which Is The Best Mid-Range 5G Phone?

It’s getting competitive for smartphone OEMs to stay up the ladders in the affordable smartphone market in India. The tech giants are now flooding up this space with newer models frequently. Despite the fact that 5G is yet to be available on a mass scale in India, smartphone brands are consistently bringing in new models backed with 5G in India.

Xiaomi’s latest player that has been announced for the premium mid-tier audience in the country is the Redmi Note 11 Pro+. This new handset comes with an asking price of Rs. 20,999 with the top model retailing at Rs. 24,999. This Redmi Note 11 series phone is a strong contender in the sub Rs. 25,000 segment in India.

Amongst the prime rivals of the high-end Redmi Note 11 Pro phone is the OnePlus Nord CE 2 which is already a hit in the premium mid-range segment. Which one of the Xiaomi or the OnePlus handsets is a complete package and which one should you consider? Read on this comparison article to know:

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Pro+ is packed with a big 6.67-inch display which is an AMOLED panel. The display offers 1080p FHD+ screen resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It further delivers 1200 nits peak brightness levels and is 335 PPI pixel density. The latest Redmi Note series phone will offer clear visuals and good sunlight visibility. You will enjoy watching TV shows and movies via both OTT platforms and offline media directory. The panel features a punch-hole at the center-top for the selfie camera and has a slim bezel profile.

The OnePlus Nord CE 2 has a slightly smaller panel compared to the Redmi Note 11 series phone. It has a 6.43-inch display which is a Fluid AMOLED panel protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass protection on top. The display specs include an FHD+ screen resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and a pixel density of 409 PPI. The refresh rate offered by the OnePlus Nord CE 2 is 90Hz which is lower than that of the Redmi Note 11 series model. But the panel here gets better with HDR10+ certification that allows streaming 1080p videos via OTT platforms.

Speaking of the camera hardware, the Redmi Note 11 Pro+ is equipped with a 108MP main camera at the back that has an f/1.9 aperture. The rear camera module additionally features an 8MP ultrawide sensor with an f/2.2 aperture and 118-degree FoV and a 2MP sensor for macro photography. The Redmi Note 11 Pro+’s camera is capable of recording 1080p@30fps video recording and also has some extra set of shooting modes to enhance the imaging output. The selfie snapper used by the Redmi Note 11 series handset is a 16MP snapper with an f/2.2 aperture. The front camera can click firmware-based bokeh shots and record 1080P@ 30fps video recording.

The OnePlus Nord CE 2 also has capable camera hardware that is loaded with features. However, this mid-range 5G phone has a smaller 64MP Sony IMX471 primary snapper at the back, unlike the 108MP main camera on the Redmi Note 11 Pro+. The remaining camera hardware of the OnePlus Nord CE includes an 8MP ultrawide lens with an f/1.79 aperture and 119-degree FoV.

There is also a 2MP macro sensor with an f/2.4 aperture. The Nord CE 2’s rear camera setup supports PDAF (Phase Detection Autofocus), 4K@30 fps videos, and slow-motion recording 1080p@720 fps and 720p @240 fps. The photography experience offered by the OnePlus Nord CE 2 is good. But the Redmi Note 11 series phone gets extra pointers here for its bigger 108MP main camera.

Xiaomi has equipped the Redmi Note 11 Pro+ with the Snapdragon 695 processor. It is the latest Qualcomm mid-tier processor that is backed with 5G network support and is combined with Adreno 619 GPU for graphics. The new Redmi Note 11 series phone has been announced with 6GB/8GB RAM option. The storage option is also dual, i.e, 128GB and 256GB. Additional storage space requirements are taken care of by an external microSD card (up to 1TB).

The OnePlus Nord CE 2 is also a premium mid-range phone. However, it is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity processor instead of a Qualcomm chipset. The brand has used the Dimensity 900 octa-core chipset with 5G network support to power the second-generation Nord CE phone. The chipset combines ARM Mali-G68 GPU for graphics and 6GB/8GB RAM for multitasking. The storage option is single, i.e, 128GB. Both smartphones come pre-installed with Android 11 OS but with a different custom skin.

Xiaomi has used A beefy 5,000 mAh battery to drive the Redmi Note 11 Pro+. It is further combined with a 67W fast charging support. OnePlus has used a slightly smaller setup compared to the Redmi series phone. It is equipped with a 4,500 mAh battery with a 65W SuperVOOC flash charge. The backup would be slightly extra on the Redmi Note 11 Pro+ considering the bigger size.
